This past weekend I watched Smoking Aces. It turned out to be a good movie. A little violent though.
The Incredibles (again) last night. What's your super power?

I thought it was very good and funny. Hope you enjoy it.
I just finished watching "The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy". I love this movie...nonsense
is funny.

Last week I caught "
The River King" on cable - something I'd rented awhile ago - and I actually tuned in at the beginning. I hadn't expected it to suck me right in, but it did.
I'm a big fan of anything having to do with boarding schools, whodunit plots, and above all, snow. Lots of each in this one, and an excellent little mystery even the second time through - with nothing turning out the way anyone expects.
The other thing I like about it is that it has a nifty kind of minor-key atmosphere throughout that adds intensity without bogging down into malevolence - much like Selleck's Jesse Stone series in that respect. Oyeah, if you're a guy, some serious, brainy eye candy doesn't hurt the mix either, in the form of Jennifer Ehle - she reminds me of a younger Meryl Streep.
.
Went to see Fright Night with my daughter the other day. I've always loved the original (Roddy McDowall

) and Katie wanted to see it because of David Tennant so we went. To a 3D showing. You'd think that combining two of Hollywood's worst ideas - 3D and remakes - would add up to a not-so-great movie. But, no. It was pretty good! The 3D effects were a bit cheesy, but fun. Colin Farrel did a great vampire; sexy and menacing. The younger actors were all good, too. But David Tennant... wow. Of course, I loved him as the Tenth Doctor and Katie thinks he's dreamy (she's not wrong). He was a real scene-stealer. Plus... Leather. Leather pants and coat (no shirt). Oh, I think you ladies know what I'm laying down, sayin'?
Oh, and the vampire from the original - Chris Sarandon - did a brief (bloody) cameo. I love that!
