For the 70th anniversary of the film, my local theater on March 21st will be showing "Casablanca" on the big screen. Surprisingly, I have never seen this movie, so I will be able to go and see it for the first time projected on the big screen as it was intended to be seen. I'm kind of excited for the opportunity, and I think I might wear a fedora...

Apparently this is a nationwide showing on this date, in nearly 500 cinemas across the country, so maybe look one up near you if you're interested in seeing this classic.
Oh that sounds fantastic! You're going to love it, Rey - and wear that fedora! Considering that I live in a cultural backwater, I doubt that anyone will be showing it around here. Oh well, I'll just pop my DVD in and watch that - so there!

The place I'm house-sitting at has Netflix and I've discovered that "Buckaroo Banzai" is available in HD -- the screen I get to watch it on is a 60". Must do that one day this weekend....

A fun film! What is so cool about that big screen is that you can fully see all the subtle things going on around the edges of the screen...that film was unique in many ways but one of them was how many relatively important things were happening in the periphery (sp?). Most American films never take a chance on that...they put everything important in the center of the film.
Saw John Carter this afternoon. Actually pretty entertaining. Generic... but entertaining.
Stunning visuals, cookie-cutter plot (for those that have not read ER Burroughs novels) with some interesting twists.

Definitely a guy flic.. "Dejah" is especially scenic. Wuf.
A popcorn flick, eh? As long as I expect nothing more, I can deal with that Wink
Watched "Centurion" last night. Based on the legend of the Ninth Legion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_of...nth_Legion
A Roman division that marched into Pict territory and was never seen again.

Actually quite good. The fairer sex would probably appreciate it due to one of the main characters, Etain has one mission in life: Track down the remaining soldiers and ruin their day. She's crazy as a sh!thouse rat, and is an expert at guerrilla warfare. Oh yeah - she's also pissed.
This is (as one of the reviews states) an "no-nonsense film". It is brutal and beautiful and has no hidden, metaphoric messages.
Check it out.

Watched Prometheus in 3D today. A very good movie worth the watch. Make sure to see it in 3D if at all possible. Ridley Scott delivered on this movie. I`m sold on it. Big Grin
I saw Snow White and the Huntsman this weekend.
NOT your average fairy tale, one that is strictly for teens and grownups. I believe the little ones would be quite frightened by how evil the queen is(super evil), but a good movie!

Hubby & I caught the last half of this the other night...kept thinking it was a visual mash-up of "Lord of the Rings" and "Spartacus." We were mildly entertained...prolly would like it more if we actually watched it from the beginning! (yeah, that's usually how that "watching a movie" thing werks... Tongue)
I was given "Wall Street" as a recent birthday present, (probably because Banks and Greed are beginning to rain on my parade)........and I loved the film, but what a laugh seeing Michael Douglas on a beach using a cell phone the size of a brick, talking about walking away from a deal with $10m.......this was 1989.........we have gone from $10m to Trillions in those short years.......
