Gentle Giant Freehand still kicks from 1978.

Crap, I must be old.

That you actually ADMIT to knowing about that group should be proof in the pudding anyways.

We have another word in the english language for that - "antique". Some things get better with age OHR!
From Black Tiger:
"Woke up next mornin' with a trash can head
I look to my left - Lord! I wish I was dead!
There's Frankenstein's daughter all curled up on me
I said "I gotta go home - it's an emergency!"

and she says: "But you ARE home...."

The song that turned me on to the band. They rock!

Ahh Mac's voice! The only Christian band I can listen too without choking.
Others may have a song or two that is tolerable, but most are too namby pamby for me.

funny story about this tour. In Milwaukee, they blew out the generator at the Arena! The power went out midsong, and they finished the song accapella. Then waved goodnight. I know cause I was there!
Blew out the generator? Thats a shame - I see them on various concert programs on DirecTv, and they sound so awesome!

It was towards the end of the show. And YES, they do sound awesome. I've seen them 3 or 4 times, but not since Jon left the band.
Thats one band I am sorely incomplete on. They have stuff I havent even listened to yet from when they first started the band. The cd's I have do not do them justice I believe, because some bands sound muco better on an LP format.
Rhino Records reissued almost all of Yes' albums in 2003, but didn't remaster Big Generator for whatever reason. I wish BG was added to the list because it is one of my favs. Also, an appropriate time to listen to it with another successful orbit of our planet as we usher in "a new year".

I agree that some songs sound better in their original format, but I think albums like Going for the One and especially Relayer benefited mightily from technology. When I listen to the remastered song Awaken from GFTO on my surround sound stereo after not listening to it for a while... it's divine.
