Good for him - drums are where its at. I guess as for tutors try the Internet - although actually there is such great material on the Internet he could maybe get going without formal training.

I used to get a handkerchief and slow down Ian Paice on Made in Europe and Japan......and then go and bash the hell out of an arm chair, which was my "drum kit" for years.

Having said all that though - a good tutor must really help.
Just lock him in a basement with a stereo, a beat up drumkit and a seedy neighborhood kid with long hair that has some drumming experience. Then he will learn how to play correctly.
Trust me, drum teachers don't work until you go through this painful stage for years first.

I like the photos of the Superstar set, looks pretty cool.

Where is the other drum that mounts on top of the bass drum? The single one looks lonely up there. Fashion dictates that they are all left off now, everywhere I look.Huh

Hi Rey - I am going through a bit of Brit drummers from the Seventies era, phase (Bonham, Paice, Kirke etc) and really like the simple drum set up - plus its easier to mic up, transport etc.

I have even been using a single pedal for a while, but relented and went back to a double pedal.
Hey, don't forget Pierre Moerlen, eh? Rest in peace, Gong monster.

Hi Snapdad - I am embarrassed to admit I had never heard of Pierre - just checked out a solo of his on YT and the bloke can certainly play - I liked the Rhythmic feel to the solo - a bit like Paice when he`s grooving in the solo. Great stuff alright - (even for a FrenchmanSmile ) Kidding - we Brits I read in the paper this weekend have had a reputation for a 1000 years of annoying the French.

RIP he was a young guy when he passed on!

Cheers RN, yeah they are lovely girls, (although they are more towards women these days). Yes Olivia - Livi - although we mainly call her Lou - as in "Livi Lou".

Yes I love these drums - purchased them (well got upto my eyeballs in debt to hire purchase them) after I saw some bloke called Bubba on Moving Pictures........grrr until then I was sold on a small Ludwig like Ian Paice had........
Those are great pictures of the drums all set up. I really like the color of that set. Is that studio room in your house? Nice miking all around too.

Those are two lovely daughters that you have. What are they doing with their hands? Anyway, how much are they? I want to buy your daughters. Sell them to me, sell me your children.
