Sorry, couldn't resist
I have to confess that it made me laugh.
Hey everybody! I dig the fact that 'ol Brutus likes our thread. I'm sure that the maestro likes it too. You people really flyin' to Rio? Die hards!
Neil gets to go home soon. I hope he enjoys the company of Carrie and Olivia with very special times and memories especially with the holidays coming up. ...Times to put our cooking to work.
Ok - I have to share this little tale of my afternoon errands.
The last few weeks I have been sampling my christmas "bonus" from three years ago - a bottle of The Balvenie 15 year old scotch. With all the hub bub surrounding Ol' Bubba and HIS choice of the single malt, I decided to splurge a bit, broke down and purchased a bottle of The Macallan 12 year stuff about an hour ago. As I was paying for this bottle, one of the clerks asked why I chose that particular single malt. When I told her it was recommended not only by a couple friends but a rather famous musician as well, she asked me who the musician was. Upon my response "N.P." she simply said - "Who is THAT?"

. Sister Mary Francis - cough gurgle splat! "How old are you young lady?" "Oh - I am 26". No wonder. NEVERMIND! If I have to explain it you still wouldnt understand!
Then - as I climibed into my pick up, and started the engine, the radio DJ was just finishing up the weather, and - get this - launched right into....of all things....."Tom Sawyer"....thats not just coincidence.

Moral of the story is; the average person is a complete idiot.
I am not sure she even qualifies for "average"!
Karma... or dogma... or maybe your karma ran over her dogma!
Kids. Pffft.
Although I will say that it was refreshing to see so many young people at the Wichita show.
Most of them (I watch people) were in awe during and after the show.
Yeah - old dudes rule.
I think the latter....my karma ran ever her dogma.
I mean....gee whilackers little girl. She even had the audacity to ask if they sounded anything like those old 70's bands her mom and dad listened to. When I asked her to whom she was referring? OMG...REO Speedwagon, Styx, Journey. Even my 16 year old can tell when the boys are on the radio. Well, maybe THATS because dad starts spazzing out thinking he is....well, you know who! I remind all my faithful subjects that MY drum set runs from the side mirror to the passenger head rest. Everything in between is fair game! Muahahahahahaaaa!!!!!
Funny - my kids bought me a black tshirt (one of several!) for my birthday....the inscription reads one thing: OLD GUYS RULE!
At least my kids are knowledgeable. We took our sons to the second leg of the S & A tour. They were in awe and loved every minute of it. My boys were 12 and 9 at the time. My daughter was mad we didn't take her. She was 6 at the time. Mind you she has Rush on her mp3..as well as other music girls of her age like...ugh! Being a few years later, they all still love Rush. I just purchased Rush sheet music for my boys, at their request, for their guitars. Then last week when my daughter was getting dressed for school she came up to me and asked if she could wear her RUSH shirt to school. By all means go right ahead!

Well if that girl at the liquor store is an idiot for not knowing who Bubba is, then I guess I've been one until about 7 or 8 years ago. Sure, when I married my husband, he told me about the group, and well, that wasn't my thing, so I forgot about it. Occasionally, my husby would bring it up in conversation and I would ask "who?". So, eventually, husby goes to the "R30" show with a friend, who bought him "Ghost Rider". He brought it home, all excited, and showed it to me. Once again, I asked, "Who is that?". Fortunately, he didn't look at me like my IQ went down several points. So, several years later, I am up to speed on things regarding the group, so that when my husband starts talking about it, I know what he's talking about (and I have been to a show too).
As far as the Macallan goes, the thing that we learned, is to never entrust it into the care of single friends between concerts. My husby did that, and several months later, another concert came up, and he wanted to have a drink of it, and the friend didn't have it anymore. Apparently he enjoyed it with other friends during one of his parties (that we didn't go to)
