Does your brother have any children who you could give loud noisy toy/gifts to?
Oh, my brother never gave the loud/noisy gifts. No when the oldest was little he gave her clay, finger paints, markers, chalks etc. he said that he was always nurturing her artistic talents. (Ok, so she did graduate from college with an art degree). I however did find great joy in nurturing all the noisy musical toys, firetrucks and such. Now the Nephew is starting on basic guitar lessons at school.
My mother-in-law was the one who gave our kids the noisy toys all of the time, despite my husby's protests. I think she was trying to get him back for how noisy he was as a kid.

Now it's my sister who tends to buy the noisy things for my son. However, giving her kids noisy toys doesn't seem to bother her. She's quite alright with it.

LOL!! Oh OUCH!!!! Thats worse!! makes we wonder how any parent survives that experience!

My Mom was a saint when it came to tolerating my drumming! My bedroom (studio!lol!) was directly above the kitchen. When my high school buds would come over to jam, there were several times the plates came out of the cabinets and onto the floor! She never complained, just the neighbors every now & again!
I think it helped that my mom was a percussionist, so when I practiced, she was tolerant. However, it was my GRANDMOTHER that gave my kids the noisiest toys. She would purposely look for whatever was loudest and/or most annoying and buy it for my kids. When they opened the presents, she would sit there with this BIG smile. Of course the kids loved it Big Grin
There was a ban on Barney in our house, too. Even toddlers have taste Wink
I welcome the noise! It actually sounds like music now. It was a great gift from my brother-even my wife sees the growth and change in my son. Drums boosted his confidence, plus I get to play as well! We have another lesson today though I confess I haven't had time to REALLY practice.

On the topic of Barney-though I tried to ban it, I was alas overridden by just about everybody. I have to say they both came out fine in spite of that exposure. After all, we watched HR Puffinstuff and Sigmond and the Seamonsters! ...and Wonderama, which was my earliest favorite show.

Hr Puffinstuff...that's funny that you should mention it. I was thinking of dressing as Witchypoo for Halloween.
My girls looked those childhood shows up on You-Tube and Netfix and said "LOL really Mom you don't think there was anything drug realated going on when those were made, do ya? They are totally 'effin outta there".

Yes! Though I admit my daughters taste wavered a bit. Didn't really like Barney the one time she saw it, but loved Teletubbies. Go figure.

Just a LITTLE drug related humor! You have to wonder how it made it past the censors back then. My daughter said "Mom, why do they show Disney movies on Disney? Have you SEEN how much drug and alcohol related crap is in those things? I didn't think you were supposed to show that to little kids!"
