SM, it's hard to draw the line. Pretty soon you'll be like Ellie Mae of the Beverly Hillbillies!
Spotted a black swallowtail and the yellow variety over the past two days; they really love the heat. Also saw the first dragonfly.

Happy Summer!
I rescued a nymph! Well, a baby Praying Mantis that was climbing on my desk at work this afternoon. Looks like a full-grown adult, but only an inch long. Back outside you go. No BG, I still did not have a camera handy.
This is more of an insect report. Sighted in the backyard this week: Admiral,Monarch, and Cabbage butterflies, dragonflies, lightening bugs, and honey bees!(yay for the bees)

Dodgy
It has been a banner season for lightning bugs.
Yes! One night they lit up the whole neighborhood!
I've been laying out in the yard every night since Saturday watching the Perseid meteor shower. Saw some great fireballs and many satellites each night. I've also heard a Great Horned Owl hooting before midnight, and then a Barred Owl moves in around 2 a.m. Way past my bedtime, and I go in to work strung out like I'm on a bender, but sometimes you have to be out after-hours to see the sights.
Sounds so cool-I'd love to see the meteorites but I keep forgetting to watch!
This morning's adventure was chasing the big black bear out of the barn. Bruin behaving badly! Shoo...shoo...
