I hope the wait is not too long, Muff. Not too long.
Did you know that the liver is the only organ that can regenerate? I certainly hope he receives his new liver soon. Wishing the best for him.
Thanks both of you. Badger is a very cool fellow with a brutishness (no pun) about him that comes from years of dealing with vermin. Some of the events that he recounts are beyond my capacity to grasp. Everything from offenders harming children in the most horrific ways, to drug addicts and alcoholics trying to hurt or even kill their family members.
He responded to a kidnap/robbery call once in Wichita. The victim had been shot in the leg because he was trying to reason with two robbers. They were taking him to an ATM while the victim bled out, but the man managed to dive out of the Hummer at an intersection. His leg was broken so he could not make it out of the street. Another man stopped and was trying to drag the victim out of the street when the Hummer came back down the street, and ran the victim over.

Badger said he found a cell phone in the abandoned Hummer, and spotted one of the killers returning for it. Caught him-Cuffed him, found the gun on him, and considered killing the bastard on the spot. His restraint is stronger than mine.
Look up Carr Brothers / Wichita. Badger was involved with that as well. You wonder why cops have psychiatrists...
Prayers and best wishes to Badger! Angel
Thanks all
Words already spoke for Badger.

Thats why I am NOT a cop - I didnt have the restraint. Still dont either!
My best wishes and hopes for Badger. I'm keepin my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Angel

One of my closest friends is a retired police officer from Saugus, MA. If you're familiar with Saugus, you know what a tough city it can be. He was a trained negotiator and told me many stories of negotiations gone bad. His last negotiation, the one that ultimately tipped the scales in favor of retirement, was a guy dowsed in gasoline with a lighter in his hand. The guy was ultimately tackled by a firefighter and state trooper and a good thing they did. The house had a gas leak and half the neighborhood would've blown up had the dude torched himself.

These guys deserve to go to the top of any list when they need help.
Well, on the topic of Scotch.

My introduction came by way of a blended scotch, Chivas Regal. I worked at “an undisclosed location in the central Nevada desert” and the guys that worked there were what I termed “professional drinkers”. I was just barely 20 at the time, but hey they let me drink in the bar there, so I decided that scotch on the rocks was my standard order. Their version was fill half the 6 once glass with ice cubes and fill the rest with scotch. There was one point where I had seven of these in front of me after everyone had bought rounds.

Later I discovered single malts and haven’t looked back since. Laphroaig was my favorite for a long time, but a friend went to Scotland a few years ago and brought back several bottles of exotic singles. Lagavulin was among them and it’s nice, Poit Dhubh (potch Goo) was a revelation. We also tried Glenmorangie, and of course The Balvenie. We’ve had The Macallan 12 and 15 in the house. Currently we just have a pair of celebratory shots left of the 15.

Most of the time these days I have a nip of the Irish. I understand the allure of Jameson Irish Whiskey, but I prefer Tullamore Dew.
It is always been my blief there are single malts in Scotland that us kinfolk in the states may not be able to obtain or have knowledge of. My three tours in Scotland told me that. Would be interested in your take on Glenmorangie. I see it in the stores but not sure yet. I still have partials of Balvenie 12 and 15, LaPhraoig, Ardbeg (golly thats peaty!) and Macallan 12. Would like to grab up some Oban and try that, but not until I figure out this Glenmorangie.

Not too keen on Jamesons either though.
