Fondue is a gift from the gods, and should be indulged in whenever you have the time and the inclination.
So why not for breakfast?
I believe in credit where credit is due, so to be honest, I ‘jacked this recipe from fabulousfoods.com.
Sounds odd, but way yummy!

Cheesy Maple Brunch Fondue

8 ounces Port Salut cheese, grated
8 ounces mild Cheddar cheese, grated
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
2 teaspoons maple extract

Toss the cheese with the flour in a bowl and set aside. In a fondue pot, bring the milk and maple extract to a boil over medium-high heat. Decrease the heat to low and add the cheese mixture, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring until melted after each addition. Serve immediately.

Possible dippers include toasted English muffins, cut into bite-sized pieces; waffles or pancakes, cut into bite-sized pieces; pear chunks; apple chunks, pineapple chunks; seedless grapes; cooked breakfast sausages, cut into bite sized pieces; ham or Canadian bacon, cut into bite sized cubes.
I think I would have to try that one to pass judgment - I love fondue stuff, especially if there are several going at once and I have adequate ale available.
LalalalalaLOVE the Fondue!
Fondue is wonderful! I serve that on New Year's Eve Smile
One year for Christmas dinner that is what we had. Cheese Fondue with assorted crackers, breads, veggies, sausages, ham chunks and other etc.s. For dessert we had a chocolate one with cookies, fruits --fresh and dried, rice crispy chunks, and other goodies.
The one that I made last year had Swiss cheese and white wine in it, and I served baby potatoes, raw broccoli, carrots & cauliflower, and vegetarian chick'n strips. There's a chance that I may not be serving it this year because my husband has recently switched to vegan. I may still make some cheese sauce for the kids to dip their food in.
Golly - my folks ALWAYS do cheese fondue. Thats like our favorite nsackie for Thanksgiving, or the night BEFORE anywho. One of the things my mom does is make homemade honey grain bread, cuts it up into squares, and drys it in the oven just before serving. Man is that ever GOOOODD!!!
We used to have a meat fondue when we were kids, steak cubes, onion rings with various dips, and we would fry away watching Kojak on tv on a Saturday night.

The next day the house used to stink of cooking oil - it was great though.
