Same with my Dad. I visited him almost every day. First thing I'd ask was, "Where'd you fly today?" He always had a great story!

On a lighter note, we're leaving in the morning for 2 days in Phoenix. The first day we'll do some shopping-a drawback of small town living-very few stores here. Thursday, we're just goofing around. Oh yeah---we're also going to our 1st concert of a certain Canadian bandBig Grin I've only been a fan for over 35 years!
I'm not taking my laptop, so I'll tell you all about it and have some pics by the weekend. Everyone take care! If you can't be good, be carefulCool
Have fun Gunga!
Well, the reason I haven't seen any shows this year is that I've been saving for a house. Just got approved to start shopping todaySmile.

Well Nettie, now is a very good time to be looking for a house, look at how cheap they are, and you are in a very good position if you don't have to sell one first before moving. Many who would like to move are kind of "stuck", because of already having a house, and it is very difficult to sell in this environment. No one ever explained that fulfilling the "American dream" of home ownership might mean having a house worth less than you paid for it, and not being able to sell or move, at least in the foreseeable future. I personally know some people who bought another house anyway, despite not being able to sell, and have now spent years of hassles and expenses of owning two houses, with renter problems and all, not a road I want to follow.

Actually I am jealous of you Nettie, to not have a house to sell first, and to be just free and clear to shop around for one at these prices. Good luck to you and I hope you find a good one, but shop around good first, there are lots of sellers and not many buyers, you should have the advantage.
We have had 2 periods where houses went into negative equity (owing more than the book value of the asset), a horrible, miserable place to be, and this time around it might be worse over here for many...........meanwhile, I think it is high time for another bonanza Bankers Bonus, shall we say a £Million a pop? It is only a few months since their last one, and they have been working (snorting coke, crashing Porsches, crashing companies, guzzling Crystal Champagne etc) very hard.

Sorry Rant over - I saw their Palacial offices today -over at Canary Wharf - London...grrrrr, rant (not over) but silenced for now......
I'm not dealing with a bank, I use a credit union...so it was much easier to get approved. I know how the market is, I watched a 200,000 dollar house drop to 140,000 in the last 6 months... but I've been saving for a long time, and it's now or never. I can't stand renting. My apartment is
unbearable.
I just happen to have the wherewithall to move on this now. 5 years ago I didn't. I was in financial straights. The ex did one good thing for me, he got me to get my finances in order. Without that, I wouldn't be able to even think about buying a house. I hope things pick up for the economy soon. Lots of people are suffering!
It's cyclical. My home, purchased as a second in 2005, is worth less but it only matters if I wanted to sell. In the long run it will be worth more. My first home purchased in 1992 for 121K was sold for 536.5K in 2005, so even though I'm behind in this one, I made a killing on that one. Selling it enabled us to move up to this one which is perfect for this stage of our lives (including the three teenagers-my two Caprielle and Gio, and our Korean exchange student Jung Hee),so there is no reason to move.

I feel for those who have to sell now!

Nettie, you're going to find the perfect house at an excellent interest rate and most likely will triple your money in a few short years. Congratulations!!!
Congratulations Nettie!
Happy House Hunting!
A big hug for Nettie! Along with a pre-house warming gift of a rose bush to plant at the new Casa de Nettie!! Oh and I'll take a cup of coffee with a shot of amaretto(it's a bit wet, damp and cool here today).
