Ouch - 7 killed? That seems a bit high for the year. What a shame!!!
I looked it up in a couple different spots, and it looks like it is supposed to be "Isle of Man" .... or just "Mann".
I'll gladly have a grape Nehi with you nettie!
That motorcycle race is really neato - but so many folks get killed or injured.

A long ride on a R1. This is not your run of the mill sport bike - it is a thoroughbred with oodles of horsepower and sticky race tires.
The rider is either pro or ex-pro. He treats the course and the other riders with respect, and wariness.
He never over revs the bike, or dogs it into a corner - very smooth. He even offers us the obligatory wheelie in the warning cones.
Watch this fella after he dusts the Ducati rider near the beginning.
He must have had wings on that bike. He's really flying!
oh, and for the full effect, watch it on a full screen.

I love videos like this! Gives you the riders perspective and gets your heart pumping.
Reminds me of another video I like. The following is not a motorcycle, but instead puts you in the cockpit of a vintage 1960 Ferrari 250 SWB. As mentioned, its best to use full screen and the sound turned up. Notice the wintry and wet road. Oh, to be behind the wheel of such a beautiful, vintage machine, but I think this video is the closest I'll ever come.

PLEASE don't pop those wheelies - I can't see where Im going!
I'd LOVE to learn to ride like that....maybe just once to feel the exhiliration of the acceleration and the speed. I just have two things working against me and one of them is my weight. I'd really have to get over the thought of that physics lesson I learned many years ago that too much weight that far out from center will cause an unstable condition. Moral of the story - learn to accelerate THRU the turn!
BTW: I ran into a certain mechanic at Gina's BMW in Iowa City....says Ol' Bubba and crew ride like that all the time?!?!?
When does the shaking stop?

Dan - the shaking won't stop - thats the fun of riding motorcycles. My sister rides a Harley - she says there is nothing more fun than riding an 800 pound speed demon down a country road, although I'm not quite sure WHY she said that.
I needed those adrenaline rushes this morning. Thanks! The trip around on the R1 was nearly flawless. I too would love to learn to ride like that. Conversely, I'd be driving that Ferrari like Grandma. I'd be beyond brokenhearted to wreck a car like that
Boomer: better today?

Those boys better be careful!
I'm looking forward to seeing him play next year, with all limbs still attached!
