That sounds rad DH - Party on Garth!
Heeyyyy DH, that sounds like a blast! Think you're brave/crazy enough to invite the BnGers next year?! Tongue
"Party time! Excellent!"
Well, this is my first visit to the Bar. I'm not much of a drinker... but an Amaretto sounds nice Smile

I see talk of Ginger Baker & Cream. Let me tell you about the time I actually saw them play live. I was in 8th grade (which would make me 14 or so). I had a best friend who was a stoner and fast girl - I was, like most of you, a misfit and dreamer so having a friend who was of the "upper caste" was impossible. I was friends with other misfits and outcasts. Even though I didn't partake of either of her vices, I still loved hanging with her. We'd listen to music, watch horror movies on the Friday night horror theater, hang out at Circus, Circus (the only thing there was to do when I was a teen in Vegas)... the occasional concert. Well, we got tickets to see The Grassroots (anyone remember them?) one time. Don't recall who opened but they were of the same ilk. After they played and we'd sat for quite a long time with no main attraction, the promoter came out and told us that the Grassroots couldn't play. General moaning and whinging ensued. But, he told us, we managed to find a replacement band. At the time I had no idea really, who these three guys who took the stage were. I recognized a song or two (Sunshine Of Your Love was one of them) and I really enjoyed them. That was a fun night, I went on, grew up and didn't think much more about it.

Fast forward to 1980 or so. I'm with my then-fiance and his brother and we're talking about shows we'd seen. Back then, it was the LV Convention Center where we saw concerts, usually. Once, when Deep Purple didn't go on, there was a full-fledged riot. My Hubby was there for that one. So, I mentioned that I'd gone to see the Grassroots (snickers) but that they didn't play. However this trio of English guys went on in their stead. My Brother-in-law got this funny look on his face. "Was one of them Eric Clapton?" I honestly didn't remember.... but I did remember the drummer. Bald guy with a red beard. Both Hubby and BIL groaned. "You saw Cream?!" Well, not on purpose. And I didn't know it was Cream. I'm sorry!!

This still gets brought up from time to time. Usually when we're talking about concerts. At some point one of them will look at me and say, in an accusatory tone, "Well SHE saw Cream play live." Yes, I'm a legend in our family for that Big Grin
Oddly enough SM there was a venue in Malvern (Malvern is where I went to school a few miles from here) called the Winter Gardens (Malvern is a tiny town famous for it`s hills, Morgan Sports Cars and water, which apparently HM the Queen always travel with), but this sleepy little town would have Thin Lizzy, (loads of kids were at School the next day wearing their mirror finish Thin Lizzy badge logos) Blizzards of Oz, UFO, The Scorpion (with Ulrich Roth - before Matthias Jabs and Michael Schenker), Budgie, Motorhead etc even Def Leppard played there before going to the US and making a fortune.

The key is all these bands were hardly known at the time, but later were monsters.

I saw Rory Gallagher there once - he was supported by a three piece band, the drummer of which had a two bass drum kit and did quite a drum solo - I never knew who that band was, but I have read RUSH supported Rory at some stage in their career? I wonder? I don`t think it would be but you never know.

Oooooh! Those sound good!
I just came back from a day at Irish fest.
Please, no more potatoes!
I had french fries(and Irish sausage), a baked potato, and potato chips(with a grilled pork sandwich.) and also some fruit.
I also saw some awesome bands, some all the way from Ireland, and one from Nova Scotia.
It was a fun time.

There's a vegetable tray on the bar.
Hmm....veggie tray always goes well with a cold drink. Smile
