On the pasty front...

I am certain there is a better forum for this on here but I wanted to check in. The plan is to make them tonight. I made Short ribs awhile back and saved the meat in what was left of its gravy. I re-boiled some potatoes and carrots, layered it into store bought pastry (because I cannot make pastry like a normal person grrrr) with a few mushrooms. I have a cast iron flat griddle for my grill which I will preheat to 350 or so and see what happens. Its WAY to hot here to heat up the whole house with the oven, we will never sleep tonight... I will keep you all posted. I am reasonably certain they won't be "traditional" but what I just put together has the beginning of something yum.

About 2 hours later .....

Well, they may not have been traditional, but they sure were Good Eats and quite the hit with my two girls! I will be making these again, though next time following the more Trad recipe and not trying to rejuvenate leftovers. If I were better at post in pick, I would, sorry, but they looked like I read from you all, golden brown, handle of crust....

That said, I do LOVE my new Weber Grill with Front to Back burners. SOOOOO happy they changed their setup! NOw that I know I can "bake" outside, I dare say that unless its raining, I will be doing nearly all of the cooking outside this summer. It will be especially nice once we get our new LEVEL deck!

Suggestion: If you have any Lodge cookware, (cast iron stuff) you might want to try baking them in the dutch oven next time.

Yesterday the word on the street was it will now need to be EU40bn. Today I read they have asked for EU100bn - although "experts" are saying it will be closer to EU350bn, then someone said EU500bn, and the last I read EU1Trillion...........Blimey that is a bit scary. But what is this I read Cyprus need EU6.4bn, (chicken feed take that out of petty cash), but apparently Italy might need some dosh too soon...........and then France.........and I am reading the Spanish thing will look like a walk in the park compared to these two bad boys........

Hey ho its only money after all - I wonder whether the Banks, and Politcal elite will be brought to justice??

Same thing here... there's some CEOs and execs and politicos who need to be fitted for prison orange. Sadly, they won't be. It's scary everywhere. Sometimes I despair for the world economy.....

Hey Counselor, those faux pasties sound nommy! Post the recipe when you get a chance!

I would love to see them at Gitmo.......If there was justice I could live with the consequences of losing everything to them - so long as they don`t get away with it scott free!!

Amen to that. *sigh*
Lots of coffee on hand today. Fireman had a lengthy firecall last nite and I always wait up until he's home from any calls he goes on.
I will now be taking a seat on a lounge chair on the patio for the next 5 hours.
School is out. I made it through another year. I just have to clean the classroom tomorrow. argh.Confused
Counselor, have you risen from your chair yet? You've been in it for a day or so, right?
Hard to avoid the senior activities this year. Normally the seniors are done and faculty are left to make up the snow days. this year we did not have any and we were done before graduation so I could avoid them but hard not to. Today, we are off to CT for a NYC wedding. feels good to work MY agenda!
