From Michigan - love the site a lot, love the band more! Don't kill me but have not been able to make a show in Michigan because there is ALWAYS something that comes up. Have read all Neil's books; love those 2. Any Michiganders out there??
Hi neilspiel!! I am from Michigan also...the Metro Detroit area. There are a few of us around here from Michigan. Where do you reside in our fair state? Don't feel bad about not seeing the band live, for there are many out there who haven't. Maybe next year will be the year Smile Welcome to the board and enjoy yourself!!
Welcome to the B&G neilspiel!!!
Well - I was BORN in St Joseph, my parents live in Allegan, and have family in South Haven. But - grew up in Oregon. Does that count?

Welcome to the forum ns!
Born and raised in Gladwin, MI. Have spent last 25 years taking several jobs around the country and have found my way back to mid michigan. Live in Midland; work for Central Michigan University Athletics. Ashamed i haven't gotten to a show but the stars have never aligned. So sad!!! Work work work! My mind has been to hundreds of shows though! Can't wait for that 'moment' though!
Dont feel bad. I could write volumes about the tales behind all the tours I missed, but I FINALLY got my first show last year in Minneapolis and then got my second one this past April. When I finally got to my first show - I was pretty much in tears for the first three numbers because of all the nonsense I went thru to GET to my first show!
I'm a grown man and the tears rolled watching Beyond The Lighted Stage and just feeling like you're in the first 10 rows during some of the live tracks. Sad fact is i'll probably get to my first show and i'll be 'miles' away from the stage. Wonder if its just best i watch all the dvd live shows and get to see their talents up close via TV!
Nah, go to a concert, even if you are in the back. There's nothing like it! I spent years in the cheap seats...finally got up front last year.
It was good, but you don't see some of the technical stuff, like the lighting, when you are in front. So the cheap seats are good seats too!
Welcome, Neilspeil! I spent a week in Clio many years ago......
I hate to say this - I was about halfway back my first time - and it just didnt matter to me at all. I loved the music, the ambience, everything. What a fantastic concert and evening. The last 5 or so songs the moon rose up and provided the best lighting ever.
