I usually always have to shop online because the local stores never seem to have what I'm looking for. And they wonder why sales are down? How about having a better selection?
But, it is a nice feeling when you see that brown cardboard box waiting for you that has been delivered. My "prize" has arrived! Ooh, time to open it up.
Oh, and hope things are going well Monica!
Malls!?! Mmmooooooo! I mean boo!!!! I think Onebad and I could spend an hour of quality time just listing what sucks about a mall. You got that right dude.
I got a $100 gift card for the Eaton Centre which is the sickly white underbelly of all malls which appeals to my "hey free hundred bucks" nature but slams directly into my "malls suck the life out of you" experience. So there is a battle going on over here.
What I do like instead, is shopping online.
Now no matter what anyone tells you, there is always going to be a risk.
While some places are quite secure, others not so much so it's smart to protect yourself.
We got a Visa card just for shopping online. It has quite a low limit so should something untoward happen, the damages aren't devastating. We can top it up anytime through online banking. We still have other credit cards but only use this one strictly for online purchases. So far it's worked like a charm.
This nice thing about buying online, is that you can do it from a nice comfortable chair, a glass of the good stuff at hand, you're always first in line and if you know what it is you are buying, you can get some pretty good deals even if it's being shipped from the US into Canada. Some places even take care of the brokerage and customs for you and place a reasonable charge in with the shipping at check out so there are no surprises.
Even local stores here have a web presence and offer shipping to your door so a good portion of my Christmas stuff is taken care of without all the hassle. That makes a huge difference to my mood over the holidays.
I sounds like such a corporate shill! I shall hang my head in shame and go quietly sit in the corner til I learn my lesson.

Billie and her friend went to the mall yesterday and she said it was DEAD! I think malls are on the way out, along with everything else the interweb has destroyed! But yeah, in their heyday, I'd avoid a mall like the plague!
Anyway, aren't we all supposed to be buying from the local mom & pop's so the Chinese don't take over what's left of the economy?!
Sorry folks for not responding properly to this thread. (Just a little bit crazy around here this morning) I am just heading out with Monica right now to the Cancer Centre for our once every 6 week appointment with the Oncologist before we go into round 3 next week. I will try to respond this evening or tomorrow, as I see there is a lot of activity on here lately.
