Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Rona Mitra. Wuf, I say... Wuf! RE: Favourite Films - Jetrow - 06-26-2011 08:44 AM There are so many that I love very much and watch a few times that I can't just sort out a list. I will share with you a couple of exceptions that today are interesting because of how politically correct we've become. One is called It's A Dog's Life. Released in 55 it makes fun of a number of stereotypes of the past that today are so taboo that they are comedy. Violence against women being sexy and the joys of blood sport. All tactfully presented without actually showing that sordid part of our collective past. Another is Paint Your Wagon. Not not as striking with the stereotypes as the first film I've mentioned but hey Lee Marvin singing is a thing to behold. Since I've segued into singing on film, quite deftly if I do say so myself, there is also a third flick I'll add to the list I said I couldn't sort out. 7 Brides For 7 Brothers. All that a singin' and a dancin' gets me all hepped up! Here is a clip for those who have the ability to view you tube movies. Polecat is another name for skunk. He's a singing fool that boy! lol RE: Favourite Films - NWoBHM - 07-11-2011 06:22 AM I was a bit sad to read that the bridge in the early scene of Rambo First Blood, (one of my favourite films) id being knocked down. I didn`t know it was 100 miles North of Vancouver in a town called Hope. RE: Favourite Films - Mufasa - 07-11-2011 04:30 PM Someone will buy it... or pieces of it. RE: Favourite Films - Boomer - 07-11-2011 07:54 PM Actually I found out that bridge was having some serious structural issues and it had to be taken down for safety reasons. I am almost positive, though that some collector will buy up part of the scrap for his ebay market. Tis a shame - that area is just wonderful to ride thru, if you can catch the weather right. Yeah, this one always gets me, too. It's great for testing out changes to your TV (sharpness, color, tint, contrast, brightness). All the blacks and those night scenes wreak havoc on a poorly setup TV. My current fave vampire movie is "Let Me In". Even more so, the Swedish version "Let the Right One In". Ridiculously good pacing and use of scenery to create mood. Favorite vampire movie scene? Salem's Lot: the kid vampire floating outside the picture window, asking to come in. Still gives me the creeps! RE: Favourite Films - smoker guy - 07-12-2011 05:07 AM I always can go for Slingblade. It is truly agreat movie. Dwight Yoakam makes me lose it when he and the gang are out back "jamming" and the neighbor tells them to keep it down. He replies that he plays cards with the sheriff and he's got the law on his side. Great cast, great film. Recently also watched "a Bridge Too Far." I believe its the only movie on Operation Market Garden during WWII. Well worth watching. RE: Favourite Films - VincentUlyssis - 07-14-2011 11:31 AM I saw Good Will Hunting last night-the end, great finish to a great flick-when his friends show to pick him up and he's "not there." My son dragged me to Transformers 3. I'm getting too old for that stuff. It took four hours to get my heart rate down! |
