Is it weird that this movie brings me back to 9th grade English/Literature class? This was my 1st Hemingway book...and sadly his last. Sad Ahh well, what a legacy he left us, the greats shall always live on. I must add that Spencer Tracy`s performaNce was top notch as well as Felipe Pazos as the boy. ;D

I enjoyed that book too! The film was also good...but the book was better.

Just finished watching "Alive". I highly recommend this movie to anyone who has not seen it.

Just watched The Secret World of Arrietti. It is a wonderfully animated movie from Studio Ghibli. NOt sure if it will be an instant classic here in the states but it is a wonderful movie for all. While I am typing, may as well mention the other Miyazaki films, My Neighbor Tototoro, Kiki's Delivery Service et. al. as classics for the whole family and honestly, great works. They are some of the only movies I have seen more than once.

Oh, yes! We love Miyazaki in our house! Of course, Katie started us on them and we fell in love with his work. Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke and NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind are his other films. We have them all on DVD. Absolutely enchanting stuff! Smile

Dont forget Porco Rosso, Laputa, Castle in the Sky and Castle of Cagliostro. Though Laputa is the better of this bunch and one of my favorites.

He did a lot of shorts, too. I love his sense of whimsy Smile

All sound worth checking out!

The place I'm house-sitting at has Netflix and I've discovered that "Buckaroo Banzai" is available in HD -- the screen I get to watch it on is a 60". Must do that one day this weekend....
