I think that she explained things very well. It's kind of an unofficial "sequel" to "Eat, Pray, Love" RE: Great Reads - BrianW - 04-06-2011 08:31 AM (04-05-2011 10:26 PM)Bageleth Wrote:I had the good fortune of hearing Ms. Gilbert speak at an NHPR event in Portsmouth, NH. She was fabulous. Read from "Committed", fielded questions (what's your favorite swear?), and was nonplussed when we had to evacuate the building after one of the ushers bumped up against a fire pull. A fun evening. Great books. They archived the interview on NPR if you want to listen.(04-05-2011 10:24 PM)Bageleth Wrote:(04-05-2011 02:04 AM)SpaceCadet Wrote:(04-04-2011 10:34 PM)Bageleth Wrote: I probably made an unpopular choice in reading material, but I checked out and read "Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin RE: Great Reads - nettiesaur - 04-06-2011 04:29 PM Quote:Now, I'm reading "Committed" by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's kind of an unofficial "sequel" to "Eat, Pray, Love"ooooh, I want to read that! I'll have to put that on the list for summer. RE: Great Reads - 2Beers - 04-06-2011 05:01 PM Going medieval/sci-fi, I'm reading the Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan. RE: Great Reads - Mufasa - 04-06-2011 06:37 PM Beers.... enjoy the first few books. Nuff said. RE: Great Reads - BrianW - 04-07-2011 05:54 AM "The Sparrow" by Mary Doria Russell. Cut my teeth reading a lot of SF decades ago and faded out of it. Then this book came across my desk and I thought "What the heck..." Glad I did. An amazing yarn of space exploration rendered timeless - in that it could be the early Jesuits crossing the Atlantic, or any journey ending with 'alien' tribes encountering each other and attempting communication. "Far & Away: A Prize Every Time" by some Rush guy... Nice to have the essays in an accessable collection with photos to 'flesh out' the tales. Better to hold the book than stare at the screen! RE: Great Reads - Neilbubbachuck - 04-07-2011 09:40 PM Guys and Gals, I just finished reading Far & Away! I'm telling you that this book was just plain awesome! I started reading it and did not stop till it was done, seriously. All of Neil's books take me away but this one is over the top! It's a very comfortable and friendly book to read. I laughed and cried. This man has a way of gripping my intrest to it's core with his writing style and demands my attention. I read and re-read with joy. What more can I ask for in an author? Michael and Brutus continue to always captivate me with their works. What a wonderful family the three of them truly are. I can't give anymore away, you'll have to check it out for sure if you like a great read. Thankyou you for my great book!
