RE: Great Reads - NWoBHM - 07-24-2012 03:54 PM Hi Mufasa - I dont know who the author is, but it resonated with me - I watch as (finally) we see the MSM (Main Stream Media) a totally biased corrupt and broken construct elite start to be brought before justice (Hack Gate), we see the Banking elite come under focus (Libor, heaven only knows what else), the EU political elite, (the political elite???) - who made (or importantly voted them elite - not me for one), starting to fade away into the back ground (Has anyone seen Humpy Van Rumpy for a while??), and I read about Euro 12 Trillion (US $21 Trillion) sat in tax havens in the Caribbean, Switzerland etc - all salted away from our hard work. I read I think about Greece in depression (I am sure it must be) and yet at the same time mega ships / yachts are arriving in the Thames to watch a sporting event....... The world has gone to the dogs....... OK rant over..... RE: Great Reads - Mufasa - 07-24-2012 07:28 PM Late for you to be up isn't it Tim? Rant away my brother - sometimes it incites another to do the same. RE: Great Reads - NWoBHM - 07-25-2012 03:33 AM (07-24-2012 07:28 PM)Mufasa Wrote: Late for you to be up isn't it Tim? Rant away my brother - sometimes it incites another to do the same. Can`t sleep anymore - just want to keep ranting. ![]() Still - I think we about to hit our buffers here in Euro lala land - then the fun can start.
RE: Great Reads - knitterbookbinder - 07-25-2012 09:46 AM Nice interview by Chris Nuttall-Smith of Adam Gopnik, whose new book (The Table Comes First: Family, France, and the Meaning of Food) is definitely going on my "must-read" list.... RE: Great Reads - Scythe Matters - 07-26-2012 01:54 AM No idea as to the author Muffy. The bit about the U.S. currently scapegoating businessmen made me ![]() But the rest was right on with me. Numbers 12, 7 and 2 in particular. RE: Great Reads - NWoBHM - 07-26-2012 02:46 AM As I was so taken by the writing Mufasa I Googled it and I believe it is attributed to Ayn Rand - in which case I ought to read some more. I noticed someone earlier mentioned Orwell and Animal Farm and maybe I should read that too - as it appears some of what these people wrote about is coming to pass........ Add Fahrenheit 451 to that list. RE: Great Reads - Mufasa - 07-26-2012 10:01 AM Ayn it is, Tim. Scary, huh? RE: Great Reads - NWoBHM - 07-26-2012 10:37 AM Quote:Add Fahrenheit 451 to that list. OK Doke that is on my list too..... Quote:Ayn it is, Tim. Scary, huh? Scary it is - but a great writer and insight. I read that some of these people had heard of the "Bilderberg Group" (they are very scary and need to be Googled) and the New World Order of the 1% owning the planet, while the rest of us 99% are the debt slaves.......and that is how they were able to write with such conviction pieces like Ayn Rand has, or what Orwell did with Animal Farm....... I don`t know whether I have become a swivel eyed tin foil hat wearing idiot - or whether we (99%) have indeed been manipulated into a corner RE: Great Reads - Scooter Britches - 07-26-2012 09:44 PM Fahrenheit 451 was a great book...it really makes you wonder just how far society can go if left unchecked...a la' Hitler...definitely scary. |
