I am a Honda guy. Back in the day it was CR500's and CR250's. But now it's the CRF450R. Thing is wicked!

Drumming Drumming Drumming! My parents were traveling east coast musicians back in the early 70's, and I grew up on the road. My mother sang and played a 60's Ludwig kit. I got a chance to play her drums each night prior to her gig.
When my parents retired from the road, I received the kit as a gift. And still have it and play it to this day. I love that kit too. The toms have that "green" sound to them.
My main kit is a Tama StarClassic maple with a full set of Paragons. Ordered the Paragons the day they became available on the marketSmile
My other kits are a Tama Bubinga kit with Zil. K's. A Rogers Holiday 3 piece (don't play this one) and a few
odd Kent pieces.

I am teaching myself the guitar. And my finger tips kill man!

What a cool way to grow up. It's amazing, all of the childhood musical experiences...
My father was in an Italian and popular standards band. They played weddings and
Italian feasts. They had a great sound in their day and I was at rehearsals and
shows. Left a huge musical impression..

Our kit is a re-covered vintage Ludwig kit probably from the 70'swith matching
concert toms, a DW snare that caused me to miss all sense of what should have been
too much money(it is amazing though), Paragons full set and one Sabian AAx Dark
Crash, a splash, mixed Ludwig and Tama hardware. We've been slowly replacing
heads and they sound good.

Keep up the guitar-your fingers will hurt less and get strong soon!

I remember all the pools. The pools were great, and I learned to swim at a early age.
The food! Mcdonalds fries mostly was an even trade off that seemed to keep me quiet as dad pulled the u-haul trailer down the road hahaha.
Ya I was real young but I mis those days.

Ugh, the fingers. They look like they been through a blender. But I can shred some sick licks already! I sound like a master with the death metal pedal crankinTongue

Besides being the 2-up person on the back of our BMW I enjoy Tatting, which is a form of lace making and Rubber Stamping cards and projects.

I've got way too many hobbies and pastimes for my own good - or wallet.
Besides music, both listening and playing, I'm also getting into building guitars. Well, putting them togther from parts, more like.
I have a fretless bass in the works, currently working on the color coats. I just shot the sunburst this morning, hoping to get color on the back a little later this afternoon.
Besides music... I bicycle - have done several centuries over the past few years, but not this year - damn life getting in the way...
sailing, golf, skiing / smowboarding.
Reading (voraciously)
Enjoying / brewing beer, (will soon get into winemaking as well...)
Cooking - I'm prepping for a tailgate this afternoon / evening for the Tom Petty show tonight. Making sirloin tips in my "kitchen sink" marinade, grilled asparagus, homemade guacamole, homebrewed beer... and all the trimmings to go with (we do this RIGHT)
I can probably find a few more things...

You're a busy one! I made some Montepulciano Italian red about 7 years ago for Christmas. It came out pretty good. I bought the juice and fermented in a glass container. Totally worth the effort!

I hear ya there. If it can't be neatly displayed or organized it has to be downsized. I've been there. In some cases memory will have to do and deciding is not easy.

Oh, definitely. It's just a matter of digging through the clutter. Wink

Amazing what 15 years of living in the same oversized house allows you to accumulate....

Just attended my 22nd Rush concert - so that's a kind of hobby I guess. If I could afford it, I'd go to half a dozen shows each tour. In fact, for the 30th anniversary tour, I did just that cause I could afford it!

My other hobby is writing and very occasionally performing stand up comedy. Bah rump ch!

Yeah, on the R30 tour I saw them three or four times, on S&A three, this time once. $$ has been a little tight. 9/2 is my 44th B'Day and I hoped to go to the 9/2 or 9/3 show but I'll have to see them in my mind's eye at home ;(

Autumn is here in a few days! Time to clean the studio and move indoors on the cool damp days. Time to take out the stamp collection and work on the trains! Time to wait for the perfect sunny day to drift up the Nissequogue River and admire the colors. Time to record those songs and write some others. Time to celebrate the harvest!

Hey Fuzzy - what do you write? Very interested...

RE: Hobbies and Pastimes - Nung - 09-20-2010 05:50 PM

Yes! I agree...so many hobbies, so little time!
I used to really enjoy "N" gauge trains when younger but haven't dabbled in a looong time. Nowadays, between exercise hobbies (bicycling, running), backpacking, motorcycling, playing music (drums, keys, guitars, flutes, etc.), cooking, photography, and refurbishing percussion instruments (working on a 1930's Deagan marimba and a Ludwig & Leedy set of vibes), I am slammed! I wish i could retire so I could really do justice to these hobbies!
