Well, maybe I'm stretching since I don't play anymore so really can't call myself a musician. Thanks OHR, I get frustrated with myself at times. I've been studying music since High School, majored in it as an undergrad (inspired by my three Canadian friends) and have played non-stop in churches every week for 31 years, played semi-professionally with a local rock band for seven years, recorded a number of demos as a session player and still practice for the big gig that hasn't come around yet. I've got some good chops on guitar, piano, bass (my main gig usually) and drums. I HATE it when I don't play up to speed, especially in front of two pro drummers who I respect and look up to. I won't give up though. It's in my blood. I have to play music. RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - VincentUlyssis - 07-29-2011 10:05 AM So Bubba, I loved your last NEWS report. You've had some great couple of years my friend! I'm loving the second read of FAR AND AWAY even better than the first time, which was probably squeezed in and rushed during the workday. I really feel like I'm there with you on all of these fantastic adventures. Now when I loook at my own life's adventures, which I seem more eager to take on (inspired by yours), I think in terms of the narrative. It makes me realize that I live an interesting life! Gio and I have been recording "Olivia Louise" AKA "The Ballad of Larry and Suzie." What fun this has been! It's the kind of musical creative fulfillment that I've been longing for...so thanks again for inspring me. I don't know what it will turn out to be but we'll send it to you when it's through! In any case, I know you'll be enjoying the joy and wonder of that little one. I'm so happy for you and Carrie! RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - Scythe Matters - 07-30-2011 04:36 AM I hope we all can hear it, Vincent! ![]() That particular story was one of the first I read here on Bubba's website. There is a sentence in it that just pulled me up short and made me stop breathing for a moment: "What I did have was a deep well of fear for everyone I cared about." When I read that, it had been 10 months since my Mother had died suddenly. To have what I felt written out like that and knowing that I wasn't the only one to feel that way.... well, it was a comfort. Because that feeling was now out in the open, for me anyway, I could begin to face that fear. Thanks Bubba.
RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - Mufasa - 07-31-2011 12:09 PM Bubba and Brutus dropped by yesterday evening on the scooters. I was surprised, to say the least; actually more like dumbfounded. Apparently, Bubba has purchased a yacht - as well as a house, on one of the barrier islands off the Georgia coast. After introducing themselves, and assuring me that I was not in trouble, Bubba proceeds to tell me that he heard through a friend that I knew the area and tides, and wanted to speak with me about teaching him the safest routes to navigate with this beast of a boat that he just bought. "Uhh, yeah... I can do that", was all I could come up with. "Fine", Bubba said. "We'll see you in a couple of days. Here's the map." (map?) "You may want to use it", Brutus assured me. "It's not easy to locate." "Yeah, I still have trouble finding it at times", Bubba says sheepishly. Brutus hands me a key to the gate, and a sheet of paper with a code for the alarm. "There any good food around here?" (Brutus) "With drinks?" (Bubba) "Loads", I say. "You mind joining us", asks Brutus. "I would, but I really need to get moving on this. Uh, am I getting compensated for this venture", I ask Bubba? "Of course! What did you have in mind?" *POOF* Now I'm on this monster freaking yacht, trying to figure out why he bought this thing. There was no way that it would clear any inlet at low tide, and would struggle in some of the bays near any of the islands. Damn thing has a helicopter pad! It was a grounded whale just waiting to happen. SO - I manage to get the behemoth into the dual-dock, tie it off, and try to stop sweating. I step off the whale and Bubba and Brute' are standing on the dock smiling, giving me thumbs up. Bubba glances at Brutus and tells him, "You owe me $20.00." "Bite me", Brutus replies. "Wait a minute, you bet against me?" I say, looking at Brutus. Brutus smirks and replies, "Don't take it personally, we bet on everything. Need a drink?" ... and then Dublin wakes me up snorting and huffing in my face. Disturbing. I blame Boomer for this early-morning dream. One of the last things I did last night was show Boomers vid to Dawn. So... it's your fault. Hey Brutus, Bubba's not thinking of another boat, is he? Just sayin... RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - Boomer - 07-31-2011 12:51 PM Hey - I accept full responsibility. I can never really be responsibile, but thats not the first time I have given someone wierd dreams. With that ugly mug its a wonder Dawn didnt wake you up screaming in total fear of her life! Although - rum had to be involved. ![]() So Bubba's buying a uboat now? RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - Scooter Britches - 07-31-2011 01:04 PM You got me...I started reading that going "no freakin way..." Nice dream though!
RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - RN-PRN - 07-31-2011 02:22 PM Nice dream there Mufasa! RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - Boomer - 07-31-2011 02:40 PM Wait a minute......what are you doing sleeping with THE DOG? Dawn is way way better looking and probably smells better I assume. Ok...I know I'm slow, but that just struck me as odd. RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - CplRADAR - 07-31-2011 02:48 PM Talk about the hair of the dog that bit him. RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here... - Mufasa - 07-31-2011 04:08 PM Hey - hey doesn't snore. Actually, he sleeps on the floor next to the deck door and looks out the window. Usually wakes me up by laying his snout on the bed and "huffing" at me... or licking my face if I am close enough. Dawn isn't as cute when she does it. |
