Yes indeed, the White Mountains are beautiful this time of year. We are thinking of heading a little more west to Sedona for a couple of days. The West Fork hike along Oak Creek should be perfect to catch the leaves changing color right now. A must see for everyone
RE: The Weather Thread - N'awlins - 10-05-2011 04:35 PM Speaking of leaves...most of ours, that we can see from the backyard anyway, changed overnight! It's been so weird, mid 90's week before last, now we're in the upper 50's-low 60's for highs and getting in the low 40's in the morning! Cold, wet, rainy, windy and miserable...typical PNW day, huh Scythe & Bagel?!!! (Remember, I'm a 'transplant'!) RE: The Weather Thread - Scooter Britches - 10-05-2011 06:09 PM Well, I think Fall has befallen Northe'n Utar...it's been chilly, windy and rainy the past couple days. Every time a rainstorm moves through and clears the mountains, everyone looks up at the peaks to see if there's any snow up there. I'm predicting that there will be Thursday night. Although I'm not ready to park the bike yet, I think I might take another ideer from Bubba. He says x-country skiing is great exercise (even if he falls every now and then ) and with my knees not liking the impact of downhill skiing much these days, I might just give that sport a shot. Anyone else do it?

But the leaves are all still green... okay the willows and alders are. The maples (and they're quite convinced they're right) have started showing lovely colors. I'll try to remember to take my camera along on my next walk. RE: The Weather Thread - nettiesaur - 10-05-2011 08:44 PM It's Summer again here. It was 72 when I left work. It's supposed to be near 80 by the weekend... Great leaf raking weather! I have a maple in my front yard, and a birch in the back. RE: The Weather Thread - RN-PRN - 10-05-2011 08:46 PM It is beautiful here as well, Nettie!! Close to 80 for us by the weekend, too! Time to pull out all of the dead plants in the vegetable and flower gardens. RE: The Weather Thread - Rey - 10-05-2011 08:55 PM Yes, amazing weather here in the midwest lately. Have to get outside in it this weekend, but I'm not spending it doing yard work! Bah! Time to play... RE: The Weather Thread - Gungawoman - 10-06-2011 10:58 AM It's blowin', it's hailin', it's rainin'. Not fit for man nor beast. Newman would have called in sick today
RE: The Weather Thread - Scythe Matters - 10-06-2011 05:39 PM Ack!! Batten down the hatches and lay in the firewood! RE: The Weather Thread - Scooter Britches - 10-06-2011 08:29 PM The high today was 41 or 42. Snowed on and off all day but it stuck in the mountains. One resort got 11" of snow. There's a nice glaze of the white stuff down to about 6000'. It's pretty and all, but I'm just not ready for it yet!
