It's been so weird, mid 90's week before last, now we're in the upper 50's-low 60's for highs and getting in the low 40's in the morning! Cold, wet, rainy, windy and miserable...typical PNW day, huh Scythe & Bagel?!!! (Remember, I'm a 'transplant'!) RE: The Weather Thread - 2Beers - 10-07-2011 06:26 AM Well as the weathermen shook the Magic 8 ball for today's forecast, we are suppose to have warm temps in the 70's with sunshine. RE: The Weather Thread - Bageleth - 10-07-2011 08:13 AM I think that we're in the season where "overcast and wet" is the daily norm. RE: The Weather Thread - N'awlins - 10-07-2011 09:11 AM Yep, only supposed to get up to mid 50's today and down to the upper 30's tonight. Good thing I'm already stocked up on firewood! RE: The Weather Thread - Scythe Matters - 10-11-2011 08:06 PM Well today was just freaky - it rained buckets half the time and then the sun would shine the other half. Darned schizophrenic weather
RE: The Weather Thread - ladijules - 10-13-2011 09:09 AM Autumn has hit central NY. The leaves are changing color and falling. High today of 68. I think tonight we are going to have to fire up the wood stove! I took this picture of my backyard this morning. RE: The Weather Thread - VincentUlyssis - 10-16-2011 06:23 AM Your property is beautiful! San Remo, LI isn't quite so colorful at this point. The nights have been cooler but not "snippy" yet. The days hit 60-70's but I think we'll see less of that. Yesterday was windy and gusty at times but sunny; fast moving clouds. This morning is calm and still with blue skies. The birds took turns feeding. First the cardinals, then starlings and blackbirds, followed by Blue Jays, then mourning doves, eventually given up to sparrows, songbirds and one frantic chipmunk. It's going to be a beautiful day! RE: The Weather Thread - ladijules - 10-16-2011 08:47 AM (10-16-2011 06:23 AM)VincentUlyssis Wrote: Your property is beautiful! Thank you Vincent! My little slice of paradise is only about 10 acres, but I love it up here! I just wish the winters weren't so bad. I grew up in a big city but I'm finding living in the middle of nowhere is wonderful! Long Island is beautiful too. I've got a friend down there in Long Beach and my son went to a school in Port Jefferson. We got lost wandering around down there and found some beautiful old homes! I wish I could afford to live there. I miss being close to the ocean up here. RE: The Weather Thread - Rey - 10-16-2011 09:00 AM (10-13-2011 09:09 AM)ladijules Wrote: Autumn has hit central NY. I also find the picture to be quite pleasant, especially the absence of the typical clustering of close neighboring houses. Only 10 acres she says! Sounds wonderful. Some day I hope to live out in the country too on a nice place, a "slice of paradise", with a little barn to put Red Barchettas in. I hope Snowball is doing well. Attached is a picture of the view from the backyard of a house for sale we looked at last weekend. Its "only" 5 acres. We are mighty tempted to pull the trigger but very afraid of not being able to sell the old house in this market and getting stuck with two. ![]() -Rey RE: The Weather Thread - ladijules - 10-16-2011 09:17 AM Rey, we do have some houses around here but not many. Actually... only 3 others after mine and we are pretty spread out. LOL... and I'm always saying to my husband we need to move further out! Land out here is cheap because we are so far away from everything. I love the picture of that property! Very nice!!! Looks like its already set up for livestock too! I like it! LOL... snowball is doing fine. She's a very heavy layer now but still likes to be cuddled. This is the first year I've had wyandottes, so I'm still learning about them. I like them more than the RI reds, they tend to be friendlier and less skittish. I was really surprised when one of them turned out to be a rooster! I had ordered pullets and didn't know the breed enough to tell them apart accurately. I had begun to suspect I had a boy with the girls when I heard him trying to crow. LOL... he crows just fine now.. annoyingly so! I've never had to deal with a rooster before, I didn't realize he would be so LOUD. Or crow at 3:30am! Here is a pic of my daughter with one of our wyandottes, a golden laced. Her name is Kenni. The other pic is of me with Eggbert.. the rooster. |
