Yes. They mentioned her town on the news earlier.

Awwww thanks, ladies! Yes, our lil' corner of the midwest got slammed w/some major storms in the past 48 hrs, starting w/a 5:30am "wake-up call" Wed morning, thanks to storm sirens for a tornado warning. Radar/reports indicated a confirmed tornado touchdown southwest of us and heading our way, so we woke up the kids and hustled towards the basement. The storm moved very quickly (65mph) and somehow skirted past our city (I think the tornado broke up before reaching our area), yet still managed to cause a fair amount of damage in the county just east of us. It is the tornado that caused loss of life and property in Harrisburg, IL.

Today (Fri) another line of storms moved through our area, and once again we managed to avoid the brunt of it's wrath, but areas all around us had some measure of destruction. Sections of the county where hubby's folks live northwest of us sustained major damage (has not been confirmed if by tornado or straight line winds), yet their property remained untouched. This evening's news reported quite a number of confirmed tornadoes that moved through IL, IN, KY and TN and somehow....we just got lucky.

Hopefully Mother Nature is done for now. Counting our blessings, knowing it could've been a lot worse....thanks fer thinkin' of me!

As an aside, I was actually in the grocery store today when the rain started coming down in sheets and the wind swooped in, knocking out the power in the store. It only lasted for a few minutes, and it got me thinkin'....if you can't check out, shouldn't you get your groceries for free?! No dice....stoooopid backup generators...

Thanks for checking in, BG. We was worried about ya! So happy that you're undamaged!

Boomer, you know we're here for you if you need us. Heart

Wow! Sounds like you were right in the thick of it! Thank your lucky stars things missed you. And when it comes to that I think it boils down to luck, the laws of physics in action (and not so much deities playing favoritism).

Unfortunately our mild winter might lead to an earlier, and more violent, storm and tornado season. This just might be the beginning. Confused

I feel terrible for those people who got nailed. Makes me feel like, quit griping about a branch on my power line, you got off easy.

Way to go, Markus! We're supposed to get more snow here today, but I planted all my tomatoes and got some Padron peppers started indoors this AM.
COME ON SPRING!

Lorna is planting some toe-maters today inside, it's 54 degrees and the snow is melting as fast as it came in, couple inches per hour. I think we have another blast coming in though. Two years ago I was riding on 3/14, year before that, 3/19. Last year not till the end of April. If I could get out of my yard and neighborhood it'd be great today. Not gonna happen though! Sad
