Photography is what YOU make it - what YOU see, the experiences YOU have. I have been reading and learning some tips from that Peter Lik guy on the Weather channel - and if you have seen his images, thats one heck of a wow factor, but I get the same feeling looking at flowers, folks on bikes (except maybe Brutus!) even food. A photo can tell so much to a complete stranger or a close personal friend.

That fact that you took time out to take a picture of something important to you is all that matters.

Was at a wedding for a young man who I have pretty much watched grow up with my oldest daughter. Grabbed a few pics, nothing fancy, but these looked ok. Unfortunately I dont have a big flash like the pro did, but thought these were worth sharing.

My KINGDOM for a good flash for that Rebel XTi. A lot of the later shots once they lowered the lights down were crap, but these didnt look too bad. Enjoy!

Nice shots Boomer! I love the roses, and the wedding shot was really nice! Sorry about the flash not working right later.

There's a side business for you, Wedding photographer! Big Grin

Well, a lot of my shots weren't very good. I had good intentions, but between the need for a flash and a better lens, yeah I could do that, but it takes practice. I have actually thought about it because it sure is a lot more fun and at $1500/wedding thats a pretty fair living. Trust me it isnt like I havent thought about it thats for sure, but I would need better equipment than what I have.

About the dance shot. The original was actually a color shot, but when I tried it in BW I believe it captured the two at a moment of "triumph" which lent itself to a BW image. If you do a little post processing you can try some things that might give your images a bit more of a feel you might be looking for. I also spoke with the photographer, and she takes some of her shots and converts them to BW. Unfortunately I dont have any real training - just what I have learned on my own.

Very nice pics Boomer and I agree with Bagel...maybe a sideline job too Smile

Thanks guys - if you just use the camera flash, thats not enough light to compensate for the low lighting we had, so you really need a larger flash that can light your subject sufficiently. I am just not at a professional level to take the exquisite photos you see from the pros yet. I prefer subjects a little farther away and during the day when light can be your enemy OR your friend.
