Have you seen deep fried Kool-aid?
Kool-aid, flour, sugar, water....sounds suspiously like a doughnut to me...Huh

Hey, anyone made margaritas tonight?
Don't go to any trouble, but if there's some made, I'll help you finish them...

HardwareGrl-My daughters got deep fried Koolaid at the Fair. They said it WAS a doughnut with Koolaid in/on it. They thought it was a rip off.

Wow. I'm really missing out on a lot of conversation in this thread. I can only see the RN-PRN 'Sorry' post from 8/5, but when I hit 'new reply', I'm suddenly seeing a whole new deep fried tangent that I normally can't. Augh.

I feel your angst Snapdaddy, it's how I missed the excitement of our "special guest" lurking about a few nights ago....

Speaking of which, I see we're all still here, guess we passed muster? For now...Big Grin?

Deep fried goodies.....our fair city holds a street festival in October, which is the second largest street festival in the country, next to Mardi Gras (I didn't believe it myself, but apparently it's true....)

The past few years have seen an increase in the variety of deep fried fare available. Candy bars, cookie dough, corn, olives, dandelions! How 'bout choco covered bacon or crickets, scorpion pops? Noooo problem. Aaaand don't forget the perennial fave....the brain sammich.

Last year's new offering? Fried turkey testicles. Pass......

Chocolate covered bacon? Oh, I've died and gone to heaven....say it ain't so...really??? Mmm...

RE: The Bar - RN-PRN - 08-08-2011 09:55 PM

I have heard about chocolate covered bacon, but have never tried any. Ever have deep fried bacon.....uh....drool...THE best you will ever have.

It's chocolate covered bacon, on a stick!

RE: The Bar - Boomer - 08-09-2011 08:34 AM

There's only one thing I do thats chocolate covered. Ice cream.

I made a big big mistake one time of going to Saturday Market in downtown Portland (pay attention Bagel!) and one time there was a vendor who offered chocolate covered MAdagascar Cockaroaches to his cuisine, and I didn't know. Needless to say - it took three weeks of brushing to get the ick out of my mouth.

Beware the Saturday Market - you just dont know what those folks are gonna bring.

Those Saturday Markets are risky! LOL
We have one where I live and the cuisine isn't quite that extravagant. I bet that the "aroma" in both markets is the same, lol.

My step-father lives in Cambodia where they serve fried tarantulas, beetles, and boiled, fertilized eggs. YUK! He doesn't eat those, however I think that his Cambodian wife and her family do.............and just don't tell him.

Reminded me of that old joke......."How do you like your eggs?"

"Preferably un-fertilised!"
