Excellent writing - enjoyed the pics too!

Funny I dont hear of such events here. Every once in awhile a Civil War re-enactment, but not this. Thank you for sharing these!!!

Very nice, again, Rey! I'm with Boomer-there are many Civil War re-enactments, but I've not heard of the WWII groups. The pics really make your stories come to life.

I see Google have their camera trike (or whatever it is called) at Bletchley Park, (subject of a couple of earlier posts) - I think they might be fund raising for them.

I thank you for the comments, although I promise not to let them go to my head (the story is what it is, an amateur effort).

For those who may like to see such an event for yourself, there is one coming up September 24th and 25th in Rockford, IL. This is one of the biggest WWII events in the country, and is open to the public, and it gets pretty crowded. It will have tanks, camps to explore, battles fought, and machine guns with brass shells flying (blanks of course!).

Here is a link with a description, directions, etc:

I personally will not have as much of an active role in this event (the one in the story was a much smaller one), as the village skits acting roles tend to go to the more experienced reenactors in these larger events. But I just may be lurking around with a concealed Walther P-38, trying to avoid attracting attention from the Germans...

Looks pretty reasonably priced for a weekend away, (even with kids).

Don`t forget the photo`s!!

Something I didn`t know -

Parabellum" came from latin: Si vis pacem, para bellum.(If you would like to have peace, be prepared for war).

Or so I found on you tube looking up Reys Walther P 38, and ended up checking out Luger 9mm`s....

What with all the good natured hugs everywhere lately, with sunshine, and happiness, butterflies, teletubbie videos and everything, I thought the Tanks n Planes thread could use a little of that cheer spread around over here.

But wait, this thread is not like the others, there will be no pansy boy hugs over here, suddenly there is a dark cloud blotting out the sunshine, a cold wind starts blowing, the green grass darkens to brown, and the flowers turn to barbed wire.

And in the distance, something approaches...
