Homemade frozen dessert thingy - knitterbookbinder - 03-06-2012 12:40 PM The friends I'm house-sitting for the winter have a Donvier ice cream maker that I dug out when they left me with a big bag of Meyer lemons, which, with the addition of several limes, made the most incredible sorbet, thanks to a recipe I found online. Now, despite the fact that it's cold and snowy here, I've been mulling over what else to make with it. I downloaded the manual from the interwebs, so I've got those to start with, but except for the French vanilla ice cream and the chocolate gelato, there's nothing there that turns me on. Anyone else use one of these and have some ideas? RE: Homemade frozen dessert thingy - burma.girl - 03-06-2012 08:21 PM Think drinks. Cool, creamy, "warm 'n' fuzzy"-inducing libations....

The only thing that comes to mind is a frozen screwdriver, which certainly has some potential. ![]() I've also got a mickey of green creme de menthe that I'd like to use up, if I could figure out how to make some kind of awesome sorbet or something with it. RE: Homemade frozen dessert thingy - nettiesaur - 03-06-2012 08:41 PM Sorbet was the first thing that came to my mind, but then, after burma.girl's post, I thought, brandy slush! Iced coffee! slushes for smoothies! RE: Homemade frozen dessert thingy - knitterbookbinder - 03-06-2012 08:45 PM They've got one of those seriously awesome Miele built-in espresso machines -- my Sunday mornings are filled with cappuccinos! -- so something with coffee is a definite possibility. Recipe? RE: Homemade frozen dessert thingy - nettiesaur - 03-06-2012 08:52 PM espresso sorbet close enough? You have to scroll down a bit to get to the recipe. RE: Homemade frozen dessert thingy - knitterbookbinder - 03-06-2012 08:59 PM Ooooh, that's got potential! It might take me awhile to crank up the machine to make 2 cups worth of espresso, but it would probably appreciate the workout. (Like driving one's vehicle at high speed on the highway instead of just poking around town, right?)Thanks! RE: Homemade frozen dessert thingy - knitterbookbinder - 03-12-2012 12:38 PM Made the espresso sorbet -- wow! Had friends over for an all-Canadian Polka Trio double-bill movie night, and both the movies and sorbet were a big hit. :-) RE: Homemade frozen dessert thingy - Scythe Matters - 03-13-2012 02:04 AM Sounds like a good match-up, KBB
