Quote:Yes...oh and I forgot Sir Paul. He's brilliant and most don't realize it. I am guessing Macca? My mate (producer engineer) worked with Sir Paul for about three years..... She looked at me and rolled those big brown eyes and said, "Oh, I would do it all for you, `cos you`re a Rocker" |

I'm referring to Sir Paul of the Beatles. Simple, yet brilliant.

Yep - my mate Matt Butler former chief engineer at AIR London and Montserrat - made quite a few of Sir Paul`s albums, as well as Mick Jagger, Dire Straits, Phil Collins, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, RUSH and some British Heavy Metal band that no-ones ever heard of.......

A nice glass of red would be nice too! Lucky church!!! Enjoy the red. We just got another box of nice wines from a friend of ours who seems to think we drink a lot more than we actually do...

A nice glass of red would be nice too! Yeah, well you never heard me play! LOL. So we had our Day of Drum Kit Saturday with professional drummers "Jobee" Bergamini and Mike Sorrentino. It was a great day of drumming, especially for the two lucky kids (and this big one) who got to work with them for four hours. Jobee played along with four of his 4Front tracks-crazy stuff....highly recommended for Prog fans-as a warm-up to a clinic he's running in NYC soon. I was so eager to get behind the kit and show what I've learned this past year (Jobee graced us last year at this time-Mike is my regular teacher). Given that I had been in concert mode for the spring meant that I played very little drums, so I spent some time Friday warming up to get my chops a little better. Figures...Mike has me play a stright groove and then tells me to throw in some tom fills...I played like it was my first time on a kit (I exaggerate but it was quite bad). I was so down after that. It's funny that whenever I play a certain level at home and am satisfied with my progress, I totally screw it up in my lesson or when I'm "on the spot." Very humbling. Jobee respectfully recounted some recent experiences which was fun. Michael: I have to take your side on the gun control issue. "If you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns." I didn't express my opinion though. Another bit of advice: never take pain killers with scotch...on an empty stomach...bad mix. More to come on all of this. "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." "Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup." "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." |

I dont know if you noticed we are on his client list - On page one with Mick and Paul etc - I kinda like that......... I think Sir George Martin took him under his wing at AIR London and Montserrat, and you can imagine the clients he built from that experience.......First bloke to bring Protools to the UK apparently too..... Oh, Vincent, I'm sorry. But don't feel bad. That happens to everyone; you totally kick ass when alone or with family/friends and then, get into public and....
Don't beat yourself up for it. Your teacher knows how much better you are. And so do you.

RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
Hey VU don't sweat the brain cramp. Happens to us musicians at some point. Well, maybe I'm stretching since I don't play anymore so really can't call myself a musician.
But I digress... It's exactly like getting the yips in golf. What should be an easy putt sees the ball land 20 yards away in knee-high grass. Or us motorcyclists that lose concentration for just a moment and narrowly miss a seriously bad moment. Hell, I saw/heard David Gilmour screw up when singing Comfortably Numb. I kid thee not. So as the young 'uns say, "It's all good." Trust the process, my friend. Trust the process. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain |
