RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
Alex could make anybody smile just by looking at him. He has that special "social deviant" look to him.
I have the same look on Saturday night when I have my glass of Balvenie. For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
Let's see... some more "older dudes..."
Where is Al Dimiola? Brian May? These are guitarists obviously but all of my favorite drummers are dead unfortunately (except for one for whom I pray often to get where he's going safely-"quicken his senses and reflexes Lord!" John Paul Jones is doing his thing. Paul Mc Cartney still rocks. His bass playing, composition and arranging are so underrated. Saw the Police reunion last summer at Jones. All these guys STILL friggin' rock! |

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
I'd throw Alice Cooper into the category... Does Aerosmith qualify? They may not have done much impressive original on album lately (OK, for the past 20 years) but they still get better and better all the time live.
And, he may not 'rock' like some of them that have been quoted, but how about some for Leonard Cohen, Guy's way into his 70s and still can bring it live... |

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
Any old dudes or dudettes qualify! If Steve Tyler doesn't look almost as bad as Keith Richards I don't know who does. But heck, the guy is a legend! The band wrote some totally killer music in the 70's. I love the feel, mood and riffs of "Back in the Saddle."
David Bowie, U2 (They're old now too), Elton's older stuff, Billy's older stuff... |

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
I sent this to my 15 year old ... a 1st chair sax player and varsity marching band player.
I'm trying to get her to, "Pour her emotions into that thing!" Maybe this will better explain it to her. Not sure how old she is to date, but... The first time I heard this, I wanted to marry this woman. I was 10. In 1971, Carole King released the incredible album, "Tapestry". This was one cut from it, "Jazzman". The live version: Scream it like you mean it girl! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjeXYbZ4N...re=related and the original music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7x_vWNRS5c This is why I fell in love with the sax... and Carole King. =) Tapestry was ranked US number 1 for 15 consecutive weeks, which is the longest time for an album by a female to occupy that position, and remained on the Billboard 200 for 305 weeks, the most recent week being the Billboard magazine issue dated July 17, 2010. In terms of time on the charts, it ranks fifth overall and in terms of length on the charts for solo musical acts it ranks second. It remains the longest charting album by a female solo artist. Tapestry has sold over 25 million copies worldwide and on July 17, 1995 was certified diamond in the United States by the RIAA for 10 million copies sold in the US. In 1972 the album also garnered four Grammy Awards including Album of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year ("It's Too Late"), and Song of the Year ("You've Got a Friend"). Three songs from the album, "I Feel The Earth Move", "It's Too Late", and "You've Got A Friend", all reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after Tapestry's release. Altogether, four songs on the album were at one point #1 hits... all written by Carole. You signed the contract - you must do my bidding

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
Whoa - -MAN! I just had a rush of "memories" to the ol noggin! Man those are some fine memories of music there.
I hate to admit it, especially on here where I could really get sliced diced julienne fried. I still to this day listen to Chuck Mangione. I know I know - I still get razzed about it, especially from the dj jocks at the jazz station, but he was the reason I got into music as a kid. I have a lot of his cd's, but to this day they still give me the same peace of mind. Of course, I still listen to Miles Davis, Syro Gyra, and some of the big band stuff too. For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!

I cannot STAND those three. So, between the death metal on one side of the house and Johnny Jonas Brothers on the other, I am home long enough to eat, then its off on the Harley to avoid all that noise noise noise noise! My daughter loves the Jonas Brothers too! She listens to the music, watches the tv show. All I can really say, is that they're nice boys. A party without cake is really just a meeting |

RE: Old Dudes Who Rock!
A few months back I did a search for Bubba, and found a couple other rather interesting images of him at the set. There is one from about the Farewell to Kings era of him just standing at the drum set with a caption above: "Hi. I'm a Badass".
The one I like is on his web site at the end of one road that was snowpacked of him pouting like a 12 yr old who just had his ice cream taken. For You Steve & Monica - Your Love will forever shine on in our hearts!!!
