Grape Pie...???
Yes! Concord Grapes make for a phenominal pie experience! Only found in Naples, NY (are people tired of me posting about Naples yet?), the Grape Pie is a truly unique and delectable treat that is akin to the All-American Apple Pie around here. I gotta have it warm w/vanilla ice cream, but my DH likes it chilled. I made a disasterous attempt at making my own last year, but may purchase the filling in a jar next time and use my own crust. Or, just stop at Monica's Pies or Cindy's Pies on the way to take the kids to school and buy one!

Cindy sells her fabulous pies (not just grape) from her house right in town on the corner of Main St. & Academy, but she doesn't have a website.

Monica's Pies are award-winning and have even been featured on the Food Network! Her shop is just a mile or two South of Canandaigua Lake on Rte 21 - http://www.monicaspies.com/

If you come down during the Naples Grape Festival in late September, there are Grape Pie booths on every corner where you can taste before you buy. Hope to see you there!

I've heard of grape pie once or twice before. It sounds like it's worth trying Smile

Yes you make the Grape pie sound really good, I would definitely like to try a piece of that, and agreed with a vanilla a la mode on top. And why not, grapes are good, I even tried some grape wine once. No, I mean it was purple concord grape wine that tasted like welches grape juice. Wine connoisseurs will frown I suppose, but what can I say, we liked it.

Regarding your little comment, I was beginning to wonder if you were the one who wrote those travel brochures for your area, ha ha.

I like Italian food and Italian roadsters

Debskis, me and a buddy are taking a short motorcycle excursion in a few weeks going right through the Finger Lakes area. We will DEFINITELY check out this grape pie concoction while travelling through the area. Great tip, many thanks!!

RE: Grape Pie...???
I must concur -- grape pies are amazing!! I believe it was Monica's that we had tried when we were in Naples. I was just checking out the website for Monica's Pies - the grape tarts sound yummy as well!
