RM, since you mention it, since tomorrow is my day off, and since...well there it sat on the bar, I'm indulging in a wee dram of Lagavulin 16, still my favorite of the Islay malts. It's got the heavy-duty peat characteristic to that island, but there's a complexity and richness of balance ('don't know how else to describe the sensation,) that I haven't found elsewhere.
[P.S. - ...Written to the sound of Kanon Wakeshima's "Still Doll," via my Japanese-girly-punk 'Net radio station. It's the kind of song that would've gotten some damned strange looks - and possibly some physical violence - from my high school heavy metal buddies if they'd caught me listening to it, but... that there girl plays a mean cello.] . |
