Popcorn Makers
After many years of testing, I've found the Wabash Valley WhirelyPop to be the best popcorn maker out there. It uses a hand-crank to stir the popcorn so it doesn't burn. The vents allow the steam to escape, leaving behind perfect, popped kernels. It's a simple yet effective tool for popcorn enthusiasts.

RE: Popcorn Makers
I have one myself and find that it does make the best popcorn. No burnt popcorn and great taste. You don't even have to use oil if you prefer.

I've been researching good poppers! I'll check that one out. It sounds good!

RE: Popcorn Makers
I recently bought a hot air popper to quell my need for popcorn on a nightly basis. It pops quickly, however many of the kernels are chewy. To try to combat that I remove the 'lid' which acts as a butter melter in that it sits directly over the heat source. I think it traps to much of the hot air inside and thus produces moisture which gets absorbed and makes the popped kernel chewy.

Hard to beat the old school method of pot and oil, but the little lady doesn't like me dirtying her favourite pot every day. I suppose I could buy a dedicated one, but I'm too cheap. I eat popcorn after all - not caviar!

Thank you for the recommendation - I will need to look into this, as I thoroughly enjoy popcorn on a normal basis.

RE: Popcorn Makers
We've had a WhirelyPop for almost 14 years and LOVE it. Simply the best.

Spud, I've got one of these things too, it's called a Proctor Silex Popcorn Pumper. (What kind of name is that? Someone in their marketing department needs a good slap upside the head.)

It looks like this:

While I don't use it daily, I like the fact that there's no oil added; it's all just hot air that pops the kernels. Supposed to be better for you. But then again I put too much butter and salt which pretty much negates the "diet" component.

Another good thing to sprinkle on popcorn is pizza seasoning or Mrs Dash.

Thanks for the review. I've been looking at this one for a while. I have a smooth top range and I cannot put some oil and kernels in a pan and then shake it around on the stove.

I do believe that I must buy this for the next movie night at the Synthetic household! The reviews I've read have been truly enlightening.
