RE: Photography
It's funny, "Generals" and commanders at D-Day try to tell us what to do... where to go.
We always respond with: "Oh yeah - we're all over that."
Then we go where we want. Wink

RE: Photography
There is a nice bit in an Andy Mcnab book where the boys are messing around and an Officer, "Rupert`s" as they are called (can you guess why?), says "I think you ought to stop that right now", where upon the SAS trooper says, "I think you ought to f*ck off right now".

They didn`t get a reprimand.......no one would dare I suppose........

On a serious note, I read that a bloke from the Parachute Regiment had been killed in a small arms firefight in Afganistan........I read some more and they posted a picture of this bloke with a beard, over regulation length hair, wearing a cap and goggles, and I thought I reckon he is SAS - apparently he was......The MOD always give the "host" regiment (the one they were selected from) rather than say SAS, and then the blokes get really annoyed and the MOD admit they were UKSF....

She looked at me and rolled those big brown eyes and said, "Oh, I would do it all for you, `cos you`re a Rocker"

RE: Photography
Of all the photos I took at the shows I went to, this one is just about the worst, quality-wise. It was almost accidental, snapped off an experimental shot just as the lights were going down, and the camera didn't have adequate focus time. But despite the lack of quality as compared to the others, still I think it's my favorite for composition - had to share.

The rest of the album is here: http://s156.photobucket.com/albums/t22/oriongal/Rush/

(I had a better camera for New Orleans and Phoenix than I had for Dallas - and in fact, half the Dallas photos were taken with my Crackberry because I ran out of room on the camera card during the first half of the show. Made sure I had both a larger card and a spare for the other two shows, *grin*).

Can't express how much I really enjoyed those shows - I think they were all 3 the best I've ever been to, going all the way back to high school (Grace Under Pressure was my first show). The moments may have been brief (sure felt that way at the time, that 3 hours seemed to be gone in a matter of minutes), but they were most definitely also so bright!

GREAT shots OG!
I love the "Bubbas neato exploding head" pic... and those two fellas up front when they laugh out loud in the middle of a song.
I watched Alex in Wichita - in the middle of a solo... stand still, turn to Geddy... look perplexed, and mouth the words: "I just thought of something...." and finish up the solo.
Still fun after all these years. Yeah -

Bubba in the Zone
This is my favorite pic of Bubba from the April 15th show at The Q arena in Cleveland...(I promise the camera was legal...not a DSLR!)

Nice shot, Debskis! (and nice that you got to go to that show, too)

I don't even own a DSLR now - the point & shoots these days will do most of what I want. They'll never be up to DSLR quality of course, but at the same time, I found I just wasn't willing to lug a DSLR around all that often either. Definitely not on a daily sort of basis. Even the 4/3rds with detachable lenses I find too bothersome for daily travels. But a P&S can go with me easily anywhere - and of course, the best camera in the world still won't get the shot for you when you don't have it easily to hand in the first place. Wink

I had to wonder recently - I went to a weekend music festival in late May, and the headliner was Paul Simon. Looking around at some of the younger crowd when he was singing "Kodachrome" - it occurred to me that a lot of them would probably not have any idea what that was, had probably never bought film for a camera in their lives...

Ha! That's a funny/sad observation about the Paul Simon song...probably half of them have never known the world without cell-phones either!

My new camera is a Nikon Coolpix P500...36x zoom but no detachable lenses/gear to lug around. Tons of features, very portable. Goes with me everywhere! Takes amazing photos without the hassle. Very happy with it but I really need to sit down with the tutorial DVD they gave me to learn how to use all the cool features. It also takes HD video, which you can't do with a low-end DSLR to my knowledge.

I'll post a link to a few more of my photos from the concert if anyone is interested. I'm really starting to develop a bad case of the shutter-bug!
