RE: Photography
Funny how all the concert pics come out and the first thing everyone says is "Honest - no DSLR!"

Truth be told the PS cameras CAN take a reasonably good photo. Just go to Bubba's column and those are all taken with a PS....not a DSLR. If I COULD lug a dslr to a show I would, partly because the zoom capabilities of a PS are just awful and I am usually sitting in the cheap seats. Good shots everyone! I think I like the exploding head shot too, though!

I think smoker just gave me another spot to ride to!

That was an excellent pic Deb!

I would love to have a DSLR, but that's something to save for. Anyway, I wouldn't be able to fit it into my purseSmile

Debskis-loved the pic!

OrionGal-I was at Phoenix too. Were you in the front row????? I used a little HP from the 15th row up from the floor on Al's side. Even the digital zoom couldn't get close enough. Great pics from you!

If I'd known you were French, I'd have worn galoshes...

Very cool pic zeituhr!

Close, Gungawoman - 2nd row, just off center towards Alex's side. Have yet to score front - maybe next tour. Too bad I didn't come here before then, I'd have been able to say hi at least. Smile

The camera I shot those with is a Sony DSC-HX9V; 16x zoom and lots of nifty features, but it's still not quite the camera I'm looking for. It does video very well for a P&S, but some of the stills come out looking almost like you've put a slight watercolor effect on them. Apparently it's the result of a bit overzealous noise reduction on Sony's part.

And I also got a kick out of the fiery head shot - that was another experiment, just playing around. That is a least one nice thing about digital over film - I'm a lot more likely to experiment when it isn't costing me anything to do so. I also cannot imagine how hot that pyro is - you can feel the blast of heat from the floor even five rows back, I can't imagine how bad it is right next to it like that.

Yes! On the pyro. We felt it where we were also. I'm surprised it didn't melt the drum heads! YIKES!!!

RE: Photography
Not particularly spectacular pictures, but something interesting I saw recently at a festival. The Shriners put on on airshow in our fair city and this was on display:

Then I saw the name on the side:

A Ghost Rider of a different color....

Blah blah blah....yada yada yada!
