RE: The Pet Peeve
We all turned in at about 9pm...just before 1am daughter comes running into the master bedroom(scared half to death) hollering that someone's trying to get in through her bedroom window. We live out in the country and have a 6ft fence surrounding the whole property, so clearly something is very wrong. Jump out of bed, grab the shotgun with double 0-0 buck, consolidate family members into a "safe" area, and walk down hall to investigate. Sure enough I see a silhouette crouching in the bushes outside the window. Silhouette then scramble along side of house toward front door and begins hammering/kicking front door yelling "they're gonna kill me...they're gonna kill me". Sensing the possibility this could be a distraction or misdirection, I take up a position that affords me a clear line of fire to either the front or back door(this leaves one door uncovered, but it was the best I could do). I was about 15ft from the front door and the intruder when I racked a round into the chamber and told him in no uncertain terms that I was going to kill him. The banging and hollering stopped, so I began patrolling the rest of the house until the police arrived. The police were searching the grounds when they got a call from a neighbor 1/2mi down the road. Same guy was trying to gain entry there too. The cops got him, but weren't too free with any info. Only that it was a single party in a bizarre state of mind, and that he was going to jail.

Gotta love the ol 1am adrenaline dump.Angry

Thanks M...that situation could have gone pear-shaped real quick.

But I think my 4-5day moto excursions are toast.Sad Don't think I'll feel comfy being absent overnight for quite some time...if ever again.

My plan is to simply increase the level of vigilance, stay the course, and carry on.
