RE: Happy birthday
I wish I was this eloquent.......
"The Birthday Song" by Corrinne May "Don't worry about that extra line That's creeping up upon your face It's just a part of nature's way To say you've grown a little more Trees have rings and thicker branches Kids shoes get a little tighter Every year we're getting closer to who we're gonna be It's time to celebrate the story of how you've come to be" "Happy birthday my friend Here's to all the years we've shared together All the fun we've had You're such a blessing Such a joy in my life May the good Lord bless you And may all your dreams come true" "So light a candle on your cake For every smile you've helped create For every heart and every soul You've known to grow a little more A few more pounds, a little more grey Don't count the years just count the way It takes a little time to go from water into wine Don't ever lose the wonder of the child within your eyes" "Happy birthday my friend Here's to all the years we've shared together All the fun we've had It's such a blessing Such a joy in my life May the good Lord bless you And may all your dreams come true" Happy Birthday Mufasa!
"This is a standard queen outfit, then?" |

RE: Happy birthday
For the past ten years or so, I have entertained the idea of a tattoo. Something simple, yet elegant - different, yet discernible from random junk that you will see on the arms, legs, backs, fronts, and wherevers... of herds of tattoo-ee types.
I sat in a Wichita library nearly thirteen years ago, reading Gaelic terms and phrases translated to English. I love Latin and "The Gael", and love to hear both spoken by speakers more qualified than myself. I was considering a Celtic sumthin-or-other, like a knot or tribal sig, when it occurred to me that this would not be truly "honest"... I'm not a Celt, and I certainly am not fluent in Latin. What to do... what to do... (thinking to myself) what has been the constant in my life? what has never disappointed me? what has never turned its back on me, or judged me, or turned on me, or used me... what has sustained me, even in the most horrible times of my life....? *ding* ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us I Drew the lyre as I wanted it; a universal symbol of music, and walked in to a local shop that had done work on a friend. The first person I spoke with had a peach on his arm; very nicely done. I asked the guy what the significance was, and he replied: "I grew up in Georgia - it's to remind me where my home is." Floored. It had to be a sign (literally) right? A young lady draws out my sketch after talking with me about it, and after much deliberation - I agreed upon the above rendition. Now - while I'm sitting there, another young lass comes in. Six-footer, easily, in her tall boots. She is a friend of the artist that is doing my design, and she asks if she can watch. Being the gentleman that I am (shut it...) I said certainly, and she started asking about the design, etc. After discovering that I was a drummer... she says, "Ya - me too." Floored (2nd time) She plays in a local cover band, and upon my asking if she was a "Bubba fan", she gave me "that look"... "Ok-ok", I said, "I got it." We had a great talk on common ground, and I received something that will remain with me. A simple something that says: This is what has meaning in my life - always has - always will. Happy birthday, me. You signed the contract - you must do my bidding
