Lemon Glazed Pound Cake
This is a very simple recipe that is unbelievably delicious. I have also tried a variation using Orange cake mix and orange juice for the glaze.
1 box Duncan Hines Super Moist Lemon Cake mix Prepare cake mix per instruction on the box. Do not use a Bundt cake pan to bake the cake, use an Angel's Food cake pan because of the flat top. Glaze for the Lemon Pound Cake ------------------------------- 1 stick of butter 1 1/3 cup of sugar 2/3 cup of Lemon Juice (prefer fresh squeezed but can use frozen juice) Melt butter in sauce pan over medium heat. Add sugar and lemon juice and stir constantly until sugar has dissolved and glaze is clear in appearance. Pierce the top of the cake with a long, steak fork several times (more times makes it better). Slowly pour the glaze over the top of the cake. I use my gravy ladle so that the cake will absorb the glaze rather than run off the cake. It is better to add the glaze while the cake is still hot. This cake comes out being so deliciously moist and lemony with the glaze running down all through the cake. Gotta give this one a try. |
