Santa Monica Farmer's Market

The Wednesday morning farmer's market in Santa Monica is the best of the many I've been to around the country. Check out Maggie's Farm for leafy greens, Munak Farm for dried tomatoes. I haven't been in a few years, so the following names escape me: the ladies with pesto are awesome (careful with the red pepper pesto!) and the olive guy in the easternmost stall on Arizona ruined me for stuffed olives - nothing like them anywhere.

The Sunday market is also great for prepared food and Harry's Berries (organic, though they refuse the hoop-jumping of certification).

[Off-topic: though virtually all the vendors are outstanding, I can't omit that the market department of the city is hopelessly corrupt - allowing in one (1) vendor's irradiated produce during a pest scare and fellating a local landowner at taxpayer expense being only two examples. I saw more over the course of time. Just appalling.]
