I saw it when it first came out; it was a midnight double feature (heh) with Phantom Of The Paradise. There were no audience shenanigans that night. We simply watched the film. Audience reaction was lukewarm - of course it was about 2:00 am when it started, so that may have had an effect. A few years later, the friend who I saw that double feature with noticed the TRHP was playing again. So we went. And things were thrown, said, sung.... it was very early in the phenom that it became. I've seen it several more times in a theater and more at home. A few years ago, my BIL was the musical director for a local production of it. As much fun as the movie experience is, a live play is 100 times more fun!

RE: Favourite Films
After a "few" of the liquid entertainment it was so much fun attending the movie. My dad took me and my sister to see the Phantom of the Paradise. I believe it starred Paul Williams but I am not sure. Anyway it scared me so bad I will not watch today.

It's kinda scary but then, I'm a horror movie fan... *shrug* ... in a world where I feel so small I can't stop thinking big! |

Tonite`s feature is Shadow Of The Vampire, the movie about the making of Nosferatu. Great performances by both Willem DaFoe and John Malkovich. Muahahahaha!

RE: Favourite Films
We had a local theater that played Rocky Horror every Saturday night for an entire summer. We went once or twice a month. We took several props in with us. I can't remember what all of them were, but I remember taking rice. (It was over thirty years ago.) Saw Heavy Metal again at home last year. Discovered that I could not remember much of anything about it from the several times I saw it in my late teens. Come to think of it there is a common denominator in my not being able to remember very much about both of them. And they said it only affected short term memory!
Forgot to mention I saw a pretty cool movie this week on Showtime. Lars and the Real Girl with Ryan Gosling. Quirky comedy that left me feeling good at the end. Very well written and Gosling was terrific in the lead. Worth a look if you ask me. Following my morale compass |

RE: Favourite Films
I`m watching 1989`s anime 6 part series Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War In The Pocket. I guess l just gotta love Japanese animation, anywho its about the final days of the One Year War and the battle between the Duchy of Zeon and The Earth Federation Forces. It shows in a Sci- Fi atmosphere that only death is the victor in any war. The really scary thing is the US military has been working on the concept of Mobile Suits for the last decade or so, and it seems they are near a working model. Life imitates art sometimes...sayin?

RE: Favourite Films
Haven't seen that one. Katie is a big anime fan, though, so I've seen a few. Her favorites are Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach and Slayers (at least, right now). She goes to conventions and does cosplay - in fact, she's headed to SakuraCon next month. I'll ask her to look for any Mobile Suit Gundam cosplayers and take pics for you.
