RE: Great Reads
Oh, that's an oldie but a goodie, Bagel. Been awhile since I read that one. Enjoy!
I'm sitting here with A Prayer for Owen Meany, getting ready to read it again. It's been a few years and all I can really remember is the end. I'm also reading a new Buffy Viewer's Guide but that's my mental popcorn.... ... in a world where I feel so small I can't stop thinking big! |

RE: Great Reads
I'm currently reading "Animal Farm" by George Orwell.
Awesome.....I loved that book. I should re-read it someday! RIP to Ray Bradbury: http://www.suntimes.com/news/13011351-76...at-91.html We were chatting at work today about Farenheit 451, etc. An amazing writer.... |

RE: Great Reads
Had Jay McInerney's "A Hedonist in the Cellar" as my companion for three weeks in Ontario, finishing it somewhere over the UP of Michigan on my way home Tuesday night: reco'd by Brutus, I heartily second it. Had me chuckling a lot, and noting names for future imbibing.
Now working my way through Charles Duhigg's "The Power of Habit": good stuff! ---- I'm not one to believe in magic, but I sometimes have a second-sight.... |

RE: Great Reads
Well I am reading Andy McNab`s (former SAS Sergeant who lead B2O in the Gulf) book called "Dead Centre" released this year about a former SAS trooper who has to rescure a hostage from Somalian Pirates........I also have next in line a book by Wilbur Smith "Those in Peril", released this year, about a former SAS trooper who has to rescure a hostage from Somalian Pirates........Hmmm - I suppose they got the same idea the same time??
She looked at me and rolled those big brown eyes and said, "Oh, I would do it all for you, `cos you`re a Rocker" |

RE: Great Reads
I've downloaded Candide onto my Kindle - it was FREE! I have a lot of alone time this week as Katie is off at her friend's until next Sunday, so I plan to get started on it.

RE: Great Reads
Um. One of my friends got me "The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster". I've only got a few pages into it, but I admit I thought it was funny in a very intelligently sarcastic way. You definitely have to have a good sense of humor to read it, as well as be able to stand someone poking fun at serious religious ideals. Looks like it will be a good interesting read for a nice summer day!

RE: Great Reads
Well, I finished Candide. It was shorter than I expected it to be and a pretty fast read. I loved the way Voltaire got little digs in about everyone.

RE: Great Reads
For those of you who travel, I recommend Heads In Beds: A Reckless Memoir of Hotels, Hustles, and So-Called Hospitality by Jacob Tomsky.
Think Anthony Bourdain dishing on the behind the scenes world of hotels. Want to know how to never pay for those mini bar charges again? Hoobah-doobah |
