RE: What are you listening to?
I have always loved this band from the moment I heard Living Colour back in 1989 - pretty much wore the tape out.
Anyway here you go - Glamour Boys - Living Colour - Glamour Boys Living the dream over here in Blighty |

On Topic: Gordon Goodwin's Phat Band. This chap has a magical touch with big band arrangements...so modern and clever with EXCELLENT players along with famous guest stars like Chick and Larry Carlton. A great drummer too.
Most recommended! Off Topic: Hey, Boomer, how are you doing? Any better? "I don't cook; I prepare things." My late brother Bill |

RE: What are you listening to?
I recently was cleaning out the 2TB drive I have music on and came across a FLAC remaster of Cannonball Adderley's Somethin Else, which I have burned into my brain from years of listening to it. Miles was workin in his mind on the Kind of Blue record, arguably the most influential jazz lp of all time, and his tone in this session is stellar. Cannonball has the nicest break in solo of any alto sax player I've ever heard (And my mobile ringtone is Coltr5ane's Blue Train BTW) and Art Blakey has the kind of feel that even if the great Freddie Gruber went to cut in the track would say 'No thank you, I am happy with my current partner'. I have just been listening to it a LOT lately, made a ride up thru NC80 (The Devils Staircase) the other day and it was as exciting as any contemporary performer, rock, jazz, classical, anything (AND I AM A ROCK GUY).
Either way, if its not in your collection, Get It. Best recording of Autumn Leaves ever put on vinyl...IMNSHO The answer is....is....42 |
