What are you listening to?
Just recently I discovered a jazz conductor/composer that I had never heard of before named Bob Florence. I heard a cut of his called Dukisms (his tribute to Duke Ellington) off his Whatever Bubbles Up CD on Toronto jazz radio station 91.1 and was blown away by the arrangements and the drums in it.
I had to order the disc from an American distributor as, for some reason I don't understand, the CD wasn't available from a Canadian one. It cost me a lot for a CD, about $22 I think, but it's worth every shekel. Aside from Rush, Burning for Buddy Vols. 1 & 2 and other NP-associated material, what makes the rounds in your CD player on a regular basis? "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain |
