Southern California Favorites
Please list your favorite places to eat in Southern California. Include only those places with truly good food.

My choice for today is The French Corner located in Borrego Springs, CA way out there in the middle of nowhere (Anza Borrego).

Believe it or not, but the best Creme Brulee I've ever had. I also had my first (I lead a sheltered life) savery crepe, Spinach and Salmon. mmmmmm

Anyway, only open for dinner, Wednesday through Sunday.

Enjoy!

RE: Southern California Favorites
Well, I'm a sushi nut. First had it in Hawaii, in 1971, considerably before it became trendy. That said, most of my favorite sushi joints are back home in NorCal (Katana and Taka's in Sacramento, several in S.F.) but in L.A., my faves are Cho Cho San on Ventura Blvd. in Tarzana (been going there since the 80's; their "Rock And Roll" hand roll is to die for) and Sushi Sumo here in Gardena, on Redondo Beach Blvd. Both have great, fresh, tasty sushi at reasonable prices.

I'm an Indian food nut too, and every Indian place I've been to has been different. There's one next to Cho Cho San that I haven't tried yet; it was apparently a favorite of the late great Ronnie James Dio - I think it's called Star of India. Again, I have my favorites up north - anyone know of any really good ones down here, preferably in the South Bay area?

Meow.

Hands down--Alessa'.
Our friend, Alessandro from Napoli, Italy and his cute wife, Mai have 3 restaurants-Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and Laguna Beach. He's adorable and makes absolutely FRESH food. He even makes his own pasta. His menu is varied and the wine list is fantastic. Great lunches, even better dinners, and on weekends, they serve breakfast and have THE BEST French toast ever! The cost is fairly reasonable. We were so spoiled when we lived in CA that we haven't eaten Italian food since we moved (except when we went back to visit)!

If I'd known you were French, I'd have worn galoshes...
