We have watched the first episode and so far so good, I am hooked. Since it takes place in the 30's I love to see all the clothing styles. I might have to wear my fedora as I watch...Big Grin

(P.S. If you know why I'm winking then good for you Smile ,the rest will have to figure it out)

An old Canadian Broadcasting Corporation program it is. Their most recent production that I notice a number of CW stations in the U.S. has picked up is "Heartland". The only good thing about it is the number of friends I have working on the set, as it's shot locally.

*Al, sitting on the couch, hand in pants, staring blankly at the TV, when Peg snuggles up next to him*
Peggy: "Aaaal...what are you thinking about?"
Al: "Well gee Peg, if I wanted you to know I'd be TALKING wouldn't I?!":D

My husband's favorite episode is the one with Sam Kinison as an angel who shows Al, at Christmas, what life with out him would be like.

Husby loves "Family Guy" as well. I'm not as keen on it, but there have been moments where I've laughed, possibly out of shock over what Seth McFarlane manages to get past the censors sometimes.

"WHHill WHHeaton" "Cool WHHip!"

As a young teenager I used to love Star Trek, (a favourite as it was on a Friday Evening and School was out for two whole days), and then later Hammer Horror movies. My Brother and I would stay up until they came on, (parents had gone to bed), and scare ourselves to death on some of them - others were a bit ropey, but classic black and white Dracula stuff.

A little later (mid teens) The Old Grey Whistle Test, (a live format programme) with any manner of brilliant bands on - like Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Santana, - they always promised they would have Led Zep, (but never did).

I have found myself watching Cheers again. It's been a long time since I watched it. Norm's greatest line "It's a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milkbone underwear.

Yes good call - Cheers was great. I used to like Taxi too, and Cagney and Lacey (I pretty much like watching anything with the NYC skyline) - as Phil Lynott said, "Its high rise, concrete and complex"

It is all that: my three years there were interesting, to say the least.

Also went to Boston a few times and visited the bar used as the model for Cheers, which was rather disorienting.

One show we get here on an obscure digital channel is Later.... with Jools Holland: mostly really old ones, but always so diverse. Loved Jools when he was on Top Gear too -- he just about had Jeremy on the floor laughing. Cool

It is the one City which lives up to its reputation on TV and Films. I did love NYC, and Philly too, but NYC is the place. I would love to visit in Winter, (I have only been there in Summer).....waiting to go home sat in a plane traffic jam at Newark with Concorde in the jam too......

My favourite way to get to the city is either by train or bus: there's something about seeing that skyline emerging on the horizon that's very special.

Of all the movies and television shows set there, I think Coogan's Bluff (a reasonably obscure early Clint Eastwood movie) and Barney Miller are my favourites.

Yes....I went into Manhattan on one of the bridges, I dont think it was Brooklyn though - just amazing.....

I love the old cast iron bridges and huge rivets holding it all together - actually Sydney Harbour Bridge and some of the bridges in Newcastle remind me of NYC.

A bit North of where I am is a place called "Iron Bridge", as I believe the first ever iron bridge was built here.

Because they were new to manufacturing using iron, the joints on the bridge (still there today) are Mortis and Tenon joints, as you would see on wooden constructions......still it worked I suppose..

One of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's?

Brilliant guy: one of the architectural history classes I took in grad school had us write a paper on our favourite building in the nineteenth century. Mine was on the army field hospital he designed, in collaboration with Florence Nightingale, for use in the Crimean War. In essence, it was the first M*A*S*H.
