Video Games?!?!?! What do you play?

My boys play CoD and my oldest needs to get his butt kicked in the game. He thinks he is so good at it. He plays on Xbox so you're no help

Oh NO. We "have" an XBox. Thats all I know about it. It was given to us by my daughters boyfriend who wanted a new PS3. Sorry - no help.

I don't play it either...unless they are playing Rock Band. I can't figure out the controllers to save myself I will play Wii with the kids on occasion. That controller is a little bit easier to figure out.

Well dont feel alone. When it comes to those pesky controllers I am all thumbs and left feet. Thats why nobody will play a PC game with me.

I must admit though that I am a “veteran” of the older Battlefield 1942 game, and especially its mod, Desert Combat. I still play often on a server based in Germany. I know its very commonplace now, but I still find it incredible that I can play a game in my house against an opponent located half way around the world, all in real time.

I have a friend who once said that video games are a complete waste of time. That all you are doing is staring at a screen removed from reality, something just for kids. That is true, but I also have to disagree. I think video games are just another form of entertainment. Watching a movie, for example, is time spent just watching a screen, yet it is so much more than that. And I think a good video game is a lot like a good movie, the difference being you get to participate, instead of just watch. An example, the game “Medal of Honor: Allied Assault” puts you on Omaha Beach during the Allied invasion to liberate France during World War II, and loosely follows the plotline of the movie “Saving Private Ryan”. In this case you get to learn a little history too.

There are others like this too, my favorites over the years being the “Thief” series, the other “Medal of Honor” and “Call of Duty” series, and more recently “Bioshock” was like being in a really bizarre movie. It also helps to have a really good set of speakers for the computer, as the audio can really enhance the visuals. I go old school here and use a set of “Large Advent” speakers from the 70’s, the bass is really exceptional, much better than the little speakers made for computers.

I have tried the Wii, but I guess its not really for me. It almost seems like the graphics and game play went backwards in quality, reminding me of my old Atari. I Don't have any consoles either, I just play on the PC.

I use the new and improved gold edition liquid-jetted and crystalfibered PS4 with a vibration pulse overload mind chip controller. But you have to be really rich and handsome like me to get one of these because they don't come out for another 8 years.

So the youngest's boyfriend has Rock Band for the Xbox and decided to talk her dad into playing with her. She picks out Tom Sawyer and says" Ok Dad you be Neil" <snort, snort, giggle ,giggle> goes me. Total epic 'Fail' to which Hubby says" 1 I will never be the Professor and 2 no wonder he can eat what ever his heart desires on tour"

You gotta be on your A Game to even come within 10 miles of Bubba. Maybe better pack a month of lunches while you are at it. I have always maintained that there was only one song that did me in on my quest to become a professional drummer.....and even Bubba had trouble with it, so that should tell you a lot right there.
