Little Ethiopia - Los Angeles, California

These restaurants are awesome. The food is absolutely amazing, affordable (less than $10 for a meal!), and you get to eat with your hands. What could be more fun?! A lot of Ethiopian food is also vegan, however they do have many meat dishes and friends tell me that the fish dinner is to die for. I had my 40th birthday at "Rosalinds" and my 30 guests had never had anything like it before. It is a real treat to partake of this food. A lot of it is spicey and mushy and that's the way I like it! They give you a basket of their "injera" bread, which is like a sourdough crepe that you use to pick up your food with. It takes some skill to eat this way without making a mess, and quite frankly, I haven't mastered mess-free Ethiopian food eating yet, but I do have fun trying! I highly recommend any of the restaurants in the above link. I have eaten at almost all of them and they all prettymuch serve the same dishes, but there is a slight variety in the spice levels. Have fun! Holly - "If I'm not naked by the end of it, then it wasn't a meal!"

RE: Little Ethiopia - Los Angeles, California
There is a little Ethiopian restaurant in Toronto in the main floor of a house. Maybe 5-6 tables at most. The name escapes me and its been a good numbers of years now so I don't even remember where it is. I was a little apprehensive at first. With all the issues of starving folks over there, Ethiopian and food seemed a bit contradictory.
It was absolutely delicious. Several meat dishes and small bowls of sauces and spices that you can dip, spread, apply as you wish. I had the fish as well. Blackened. It was fantastic.
