I spent 3 months there in the navy just before I got married. I had heard they opened up some area of the bay, but I thought they were looking for an old Confederate navy ship lost in 1862, but apparently that may have only been a rumor. While I was there the enlisted man club served these awesome frozen strawberry margaritas that were superb, especially after spending 12 hours walking topside on a BLACK nuclear sub.
