Some (which are clearley a "spoof") can be quite good fun, (like the fake Angela Merkel) but the one I read seemed like the bloke really did believe he was going to rehearsals......Hey ho!!!

Hi Bubba! Just thought you might get a kick out of this.... last night I went to see a CPT tribute band. I met up with some local CPT fans, one of whom brought one of your drumming hats for their drummer, George, to wear. Which he did. After the show, he came over to give the hat back but my friend told him, "I want you to have it." We were all so touched, George most of all, as it's a S&A hat that my friend can't get again (I'm thinking of getting him a B&G hat to stand-in for it). Another random act of kindness peripherally involving you. Makes yer heart swell, doanit? Big Grin

Walter Mitty was a character in a book we used to have to study in English "O" Level - about a boy with a vivid imagination - thus when he saw the school janitor changing a light bulb, as he starts to climb the step ladder to change it, "Walter" imagines the guy is on the final climb to the summit of Everest etc. He constantly has these day dreams and imagines he is someone else doing something heroic.

For a while many UK Judges, when summing up in court, would describe some fraudster, or some idiot who should have known better as, "You are clearly a Walter Mitty character, but I cannot ignore for all that, the crime you have committed, and sentence you to 6 months in prison" etc

I used to feel a small buzz that when I heard this, or read it, I knew what the Judge was on about..

LOL. "Walter Mitty" wasn't required reading here in school, but I definitely remember it from a summer reading programme I did one year just to see how many books I could read. Smile

I had to read it in high school, and then rented the movie a few years later. I thought that Danny Kay did an excellent job as Mitty!

We used to have to read the book as a class, each taking a part........I played Walt.....I was pretty good, and one of the class did another part, (cant remember which one), but one of the lines was......."What did you do with the bodies?"........"We dumped `em"

Funny - I can remember being in that class like it was yesterday......only 35 years ago......

We did the same thing with The Taming of the Shrew in high school, and I remember it the same way you remember yours.

And we won't talk about how many years ago that was: sayin'?

It is wierd isn`t how our memories work? I met my best mate from the school the other day - we hadn`t seen each other for maybe 12 years, we hugged, said hello, and we were right back where we last left off.....
