RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
I don't think he was. I don't recall him ever saying so. Just that he started taking lessons and after a year got a real kit then he joined a band.

Love and respect...
Turn up the music and smile!

I don't know... if he was it was during his brief stint in High School. I'm getting ready to re-read Traveling Music so when I run across something about that, I'll let ya know Big Grin

OMG, that sounds stalker-ish. No, Bubba, I don't know anything besides what you have shared with us. Honest injun (and I'm part native American so I can say that Wink )

RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
I don't think he did much in high school besides go...
I don't remember him doing anything in an organized activity in school, having read all of his books and such.
There's no mention in the documentary either.
So my guess is no, he wasn't in his school band.

I think you're right, nettie. It's been awhile since I read TM and I figure if it was there to tell, Bubba would've done so in that book.

I don't remember any mention either, but band is often curricular and students would have been required to take a music class perhaps.

Band in my neck of the woods has never been mandatory. If you want to play an instrument you took band class.

Ditto, RN. But Canadian schools might be different...? [Image: umm.gif]

Up to a certain age here you have to choose between band, orchestra or chorus. I didn't have that because I went to Catholic schools up to 8th grade.

No mandatory band class up in my part of Canada anyways.
I wanted to play the drums - when I found out I couldn't, I said forget it...

RE: You KNOW that Bubba's on here...
I had to take music in high school, one needed an "arts" course to graduate. Well, I can't draw or paint to save my life (the painting part I'm working on at the moment) and acting seemed, well, not exceedingly manly if ya know what I mean.

My choices in band class were:
1 - drums, other percussive goodies
2 - trumpet (because I already knew the fingering for trumpet scales)
3 - guitar

Well, I got none of those. I was shuffled off into taking a baritone horn because it used the same fingering as the trumpet. We didn't have a drummer or guitar player in our band. Not sure why.

By the way, no that's not me in the photo. It's just the first decent photo of a baritone horn that Google found.

Losers visualize the results of failure and live in fear.
Winners visualize the results of success and live in abundance.
